Jesus and Muhammad: Casting out Demons – Proof of a true Prophet?

A while ago I received an email concerning a Christian who was advancing the idea that true Prophets must cast out demons. Now, the Christian’s criteria is not consistent as this would lead him to reject John the Baptist and Old Testament Prophets – thus his criteria is flawed. Nevertheless, according to his criteria, he has to accept Prophet Muhammad.

Casting out demons and other signs

According to the Gospels Jesus cast out demons and performed miraculous signs. However, I have stumbled across a tradition where the Prophetic brother of Jesus, Prophet Muhammad, is said to have cast out a demon:

Ibn Abbas said, “A woman brought her son who was possessed. The Prophet stroked his breast and the child vomited up something like a black puppy and was healed [1]

Just like Jesus, Prophet Muhammad performed miracles (by the Will of God). Many will be unaware of the Prophet Muhammad performing more recorded miracles than Jesus as “the scholars have collected more than a thousand miracles regarding the Prophet (p)” [2]

Jesus and Muhammad: a summary

We know both performed wonderful signs by the Will of God and both were Prophets who preached pure monotheism.

I recall preaching the Truth to a Christian leader (a vicar) and the Christian leader remarked that he believed in Muhammad as a Prophet of God. Sadly, some Christians try to make it a case of Jesus “or” Muhammad but the noble and just belief would incorporate Jesus “AND” Muhammad.

Muslims believe in both – you can do this without any conflict by believing both are Prophets of God.

May God send His peace and blessings upon both Jesus and Muhammad.

The hadith reports contradict your Qur'an, which say Muhammad was not sent with an ability to perform miracles. The hadith report of miracles are late and obviously contain legendary material intended to make the Muhammad of Muslim faith look more like Jesus and less like the Muhammad of history.

The Bible says that John is greater than Jesus.

"I say to you, among those born of women there is no one greater than John; yet he who is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he."

So the least in the kingdom of heaven on a scale of 1.0-10.0 is greater than John the Baptist so John the Baptist is less than the least.

John the Baptist is greater than all those born among women (Jesus included).

I wonder where this leaves Jesus on the scale given in heaven?

Certainly not at the right hand of the father that's for sure!

SAUDI ARABIA—A Saudi woman cut her husband’s penis off after he decided to have a second wife under Islamic law which allows a man to have four wives at a time, a newspaper reported on Wednesday.

An ambulance rushed the unnamed man to the nearest medical centre in the capital Riyadh before he was flown by helicopter to a specialized hospital for treatment, 'Sharq' Arabic language daily said.

“His wife begged him not to marry again but he did not listen to her….she then severed his penis with a big knife,” it said.

“He was taken to hospital in a serious condition because of heavy bleeding,” it added without making clear if the man’s penis was restored. (Source

Where the hell does the Quran say that prophet Muhammad (pbuh) can't do miracles EXPLICITLY ? because I know which verse you will use and believe me they REFUTE you...those verses were revealed to remind prophet Muhammad (pbuh) that he is a prophet and his mission is to proclaim the message , not do miracles for anyone who wants to see them , God will provide miracles as he sees fit , even Jesus(pbuh) was not doing miracles left and right to impress crowds , he even rebuked people who come asking for one once according to the bible.

hadith reports dont come late ! there is a whole science that tracks oral reports back to eye witnesses ! seriously dude get islam 101 for dummies , it might help you out alot !

LOL ! dude seriously , so according to you late Muslims were like...."reading the bible"...and thinking "oh this Jesus dude looks cool , we should gets some of these stories in Islam to make our prophet like him"....hahahahaha !

you never read the Quran , if you did you would've known that the quran attributes itself as a miracle for prophet Muhammad (pbuh) , and it attributes splitting the moon as a miracle of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).

seriously , consider buying

This is the type of drivel Christian apologists feed their mass audiences. Audiences who do not even do a spot of research.

Prof M.Mohar Ali has written a piece refuting this spurious claim - which orignates from the orientalists. InshaAllah I will try to present the sheikh's response to their outrageous claim in the near future.

The fact the splitting the moon miracle is not even mentioned is a clear sign of them hiding the facts.

And if they move away from the Quran and look into the Ahadith they find a ton of miracles but their apologists present more deception in order to keep their flocks as flocks.

If there is any sincere Christian (not the fundy type who wants to blow the M.E up) PLEASE research things for yourself and PLEASE ask God to guide you to the Truth whilst doing your objective research.

Peace

Even if Muhammad(saw) did not perform any miracles, you'll still have to explain who people are able to perform exorcisms with the Quran. After all, Satan cannot drive out Satan lest the kingdom of Satan be broken. Remember who said this? It was Jesus' reply to the Jews who said he was possessed by Beelzebub.

Therefore, if the Quran can be used to drive out Satan, then the Quran is not from Satan. Hence, Muhammad(saw) was not from Satan.

Who is from Satan? Radical Moderate, David Wood, Querishi, etc.

Christian apologetics is bankrupt....people like Bassam Zawadi will continue to press that point further....

hence..."a woman in saudi arabia etc"....with that I leave you all with the trolls ...your choice if you feed them..

Hello:

In a Bassam Zawadi and David Wood debate,Bassam said,I am almost certain, that Muhammad had driven out a devil and he mentioned

Mark 3:22-23:

"And the teachers of the law who came down from Jerusalem said, “He is possessed by Beelzebul! By the prince of demons he is driving out demons.”

So Jesus called them over to him and began to speak to them in parables: “How can Satan drive out Satan?"

So Jesus was WRONG,for Bassam.

Jesus was using a METAPHOR.He often did it,read:

http://www.avraidire.com/2010/09/quelques-phrases-de-jesus-mal-interpretees-par-les-musulmans/

(which can be translated using GOOGLE TRANSLATE):

http://translate.google.com/#

A METAPHOR OF WHAT?

He was saying:"Satan will NOT go against HIS INTEREST."

Notice in Mark Jesus even says:"began to speak to them in parables: “How can Satan drive out Satan?"

THE KORAN AND EXORCISMS

If one takes the position that it is in X interest to have people believe in the Koran then that being could decide to tell his subordinates to leave in order to convince people regarding the Koran's truth.

About MATTHEW 11:11/LUKE7:28 which has:

"Truly I tell you, among those born of women there has not risen anyone greater than John the Baptist."

CONTEXT,CONTEXT

Matthew and Luke BOTH tell us Jesus was God:

http://www.avraidire.com/2011/02/quatre-exemples-additionnels-ou-jesus-dit-etre-dieudans-matthieu-et-luc/

THEY BOTH ALSO REPEATED WHEN MARK SAYS JESUS WAS GOD

http://www.avraidire.com/2011/01/jesus-a-t-il-dit-quil-netait-pas-dieu/

JESUS IN MATT AND LUKE WHEN TEMPTED BY SATAN,SAYS HE IS GOD(an additional example)

An answer to the AHMEED DEEDAT question:"Where does Jesus say:"I am God,worship me?"

http://www.avraidire.com/2011/01/la-reponse-a-laffirmation-dahmed-deedat-que-jesus-ne-dit-nul-part-dans-la-bibleje-suis-dieuadore-moi/

(In fact read Matt's version where Jesus always says:"It is WRITTEN.",in MATT 4:1-11,and he applies what speaks of God as referring to HIMSELF)

BY THE CONTEXT

Matt and Luke understood Jesus to be saying:"Born of a woman in the ORDINARY WAY",since:

1.They would not mean JOHN-BAPTIST is GREATER than GOD.

2.Since they both say Jesus was VIRGIN BORN.

Ibn, what a poor response. Who told you that the Qur'an is used to effect exorcisms? I have no doubt superstitious folk who believe Jinn steal their keys will also believe that the Qur'an drove the Jinn away when they don't lose their keys for a month straight, but that's not at all like what we find reported in the Gospels. In any event, you can't argue for a disputed conclusion on the basis of an equally disputed premise.
