It's a point not made clear by ...From Minoria:<br /><br />It's a point not made clear by ministers today to the congregation.In the OT blood sacrifice was not always needed to forgive sins.Almost always the congregation is ignorant about Judaism,the vast majority don't even know what YOM KIPPUR(Day of Atonement) is.<br /><br />In Judaism blood sacrifice for forgiveness of sins is only for the Jews,it is in Mosaic Law.Yom Kippur is the HOLIEST day in Judaism and it is in:Leviticus 16:1–34/Leviticus 23:26–32/Numbers 29:7–11)<br /><br />It was the day when animal sacrifices were made by the High Priest(eventually in a great temple,that of Jerusalem) for the sins of the entire Jewish nation.<br /><br />Even TODAY Orthodox Jews sacrifice a CHICKEN on Yom Kippur,by chocking it to death.<br /><br />FOR THE NON-JEWS<br /><br />Simply asking pardon was enough,as in the case of the people of Nineveh,capital of the Assyrian empire.In the book of Jonah the Jewish prophet tells them to repent,they do,that's it,no blood sacrifice.<br /><br />In Judaism non-Jews can go to heaven without any blood sacrifice,they just have to follow the Noahide laws.<br /><br />SIMILAR TO CATHOLICISM<br /><br />The OT situation is similar.In the Catholic church you have MORTAL sins and VENIAL(minor) sins.If you die without having confessed your mortal sin(like robbing,killing,etc) to a priest,knowing you had to,then you go to hell.<br /><br />But if you repent in your heart and die before being able to go a priest(but had the intention of doing so,as soon as possible)then you DO NOT go to hell.<br /><br />SO ALSO IN JUDAISM<br /><br />In that sense,blood sacrifice for sins was like the mortal sin case for Catholics.If you repented sincerely but died before you could offer a sacrifice you still died forgiven.<br /><br />It's obvious that blood sacrifice was a formality,to show outwardly what had already been effected.The OT Jews did not believe in a heaven,but with time came to believe in a resurrection.<br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br />Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
