ABN Sat Homosexuality and Islam

Here we have it folks. Pastor Joseph Najm and Brother Hamoudy claiming Islam allows and even encourages homosexuality!

This, of course, is blatantly untrue; these two Christians on the 'News and Views' show (via the Aramaic Broadcasting Network)) were obviously wrong; everybody and their dog KNOWS Islam does NOT allow homosexuality and is in fact very strictly against the homosexual act.

I guess the axiomatic truth is no obstacle for Pastor Joseph Najm and Brother Hamoudy - these two Christians make it quite apparent they have no regard for accuracy and truth. They are shown to be the charlatans they clearly are in this embarrassing and spectacular video.

The scholars at Islamonline discuss homosexuality:

The Qur’an tells us the story of the people of Lut (Lot), who deviated from the natural way and got involved in this abnormality, refusing every word of advice from their Prophet Lut. Thus, their destiny was destruction and punishment. Almighty Allah says: “And Lo! (Remember) when he said unto his folk: Will ye commit abomination such as no creature ever did before you? Lo! ye come with lust unto men instead of women. Nay, but ye are wanton folk. And the answer of his people was only that they said (one to another): Turn them out of your township. They are folk, forsooth, who keep pure. And We rescued him and his household, save his wife, who was of those who stayed behind. And We rained a rain upon them. See now the nature of the consequence for evil doers!” (Al-A`raf: 80-84)

The eminent Muslim scholar Sheikh Yusuf Al-Qaradawi, states:

“Almighty Allah has prohibited illegal sexual intercourse and homosexuality and all means that lead to either of them. This perverted act is a reversal of the natural order, a corruption of man’s sexuality, and a crime against the rights of females.

The spread of this depraved practice in a society disrupts its natural life pattern and makes those who practice it slaves to their lusts, depriving them of decent taste, decent morals, and a decent manner of living. The story of the people of Prophet Lut as narrated in the Qur’an should be sufficient for us. Lut’s people were addicted to this shameless depravity, abandoning natural, pure, lawful relations with women in the pursuit of this unnatural, foul and illicit practice. That is why their prophet, Lut (peace be upon him) told them: “What! Of all creatures, do you approach males and leave the spouses whom your Lord has created for you? Indeed, you are people transgressing (all limits)!” (Ash-Shu`araa: 165-166)

The strangest expression of these peoples’ perversity of nature, lack of guidance, depravity of morals, and aberration of taste was their attitude toward the guests of Prophet Lut (peace be on him), who were angels of punishment in human form sent by Allah to try these people and to expose their perversity.

The Qur’an narrates the story: “And when Our messengers came to Lut, he was grieved on their account and did not know how to protect them. He said, ‘This is a day of distress.’ And his people, who had long since been practicing abominations, came rushing toward him. He said, ‘O my people, here are my daughters. They are purer for you, so fear Allah and do not disgrace me in front of my guests. Is there not a single upright man among you?’ They said, ‘Thou knowest well that we have no right to thy daughters, and certainly thou knowest what we want.’ He said, ‘If only I had strength to resist you or had some powerful support!’ Said (the angels) ‘O Lut, truly, we are messengers of thy Lord; they shall not reach thee….’”(Hud: 77-81)

Muslim jurists hold different opinions concerning the punishment for this abominable practice. Should it be the same as the punishment for fornication, or should both the active and passive participants be put to death? While such punishments may seem cruel, they have been suggested to maintain the purity of the Islamic society and to keep it clean of perverted elements.”

Moreover, Sheikh Muhammad Saleh Al-Munajjid, a prominent Saudi scholar and lecturer, adds:

“Islam emphatically forbids this deed [homosexual sex] and prescribes a severe punishment for it in this world and the next. How could it be otherwise, when the Prophet of Islam (peace and blessings be upon him) said: ‘Whoever you find committing the sin of the people of Lut, kill them, both the one who does it and the one to whom it is done.’ (At-Tirmidhi: 1376) That is, if it is done with consent.”

The scholars of Islam, such as Malik, Ash-Shafi`i, Ahmad and Ishaaq said that (the person guilty of this crime) should be stoned, whether he is married or unmarried.

There is no doubt that this act, which goes against the pure human nature created by Allah, by making men content with men and women with women, destroying families, adversely affecting the birth rate, causing the spread of killer diseases, harming the innocent when children are raped, and generally spreading corruption on earth, should be uprooted and stamped out.”

Thinking of the wisdom behind prohibiting homosexuality and lesbianism, the following can be said:

First, such acts lead to the spread of passivity among the young generation and destroy their morality, since they cannot practice such perversion except after taking some drugs to create for themselves a virtual atmosphere where they feel fake joy. Sufficient unto any person to feel that his manhood is lost.

Second, it destroys the lives of women whose husbands leave them in pursuit of this perversion and they, in turn, try to find a way to satisfy their sexual needs. In such case, the whole society will be no more than chaos.

Third, it is a fierce attack on progeny and pregnancy, which increases the human race.

Fourth, the dangerous diseases that are caused by it are unavoidable and fatal. Topping these illnesses is HIV/AIDS.

Lesbianism

As for lesbianism, it is also no more than a perversion and an attack against the natural relation between a man and a woman.

There is no certain punishment for lesbianism. Still, disciplinary punishment is there for any perverted person who commits it. The Kuwaiti Encyclopedia of Islamic Jurisprudence states:

“Muslim jurists agree that there is no certain hadd (punishment) for lesbianism. However, they agree that disciplinary punishment should be administered since it is a sin.”
Such an act spoils the doer’s character and make her testimony unacceptable, as stated in the above named encyclopedia:

“Muslim Jurists agree that a witness should be morally sound. A pervert cannot be taken as a witness. Since lesbianism is an act of perversion, a lesbian cannot be a witness. Even with the jurists not declaring this openly, it can still be understood from their words and conditions.”

Almighty Allah knows best.

  1. salam brother, i think some of them have a dangerous obsession with ISLAM,these fools do not even bother preaching thier religion anymore, its a case of trying to disuade others from accepting Islam by misinformation and malicious accusations. And for some of them just to be on tv(cough cough "dr" james white) James white has really lost the plot, having been found out praising himself after every debate,he now lets one of his minions do it for him. This guy is a egomaniac, after failing against mormons, jehovas witness's,catholics and protestants he does not agree with he has now turned his battered ego towards Islam, but unfortunately for him Islam has been at the end of misinformation and demonisation from the western world but Islam keeps growing and getting stronger, someone should tell him its no use, they should show him the example of his close friend shamoun,as well as other more well known haters like spencer, pipes, brigdett gabreil, but maybe he knows it is fruitless but just wants to get on the Islam bashing bandwagon and make a lot of money out of it.

  2. again, christians practicing philippians 1:18 where decieving, cheating and lying is commanded for christ. there's many quran verses that condemn and punish those who are homosexual. i ask these people, since they say the taliban are true followers of islam (i've refuted this claim several times btw) why did they drop boulders on those gay afghan couples?

    christianity- never stops amazing us.

Excellent news; inshaAllah this will happen real soon. I for one would love to just upload and propagate the material from the planned shows.

I think Sheikh Yasir Qahdi and Imam
Shabir Ally would be suited to the task, inshaAllah

Brother Ali, if you have a source or a reference for what you say please present it so we can present to the online community.

    Thanks

The Truth always prevails and Islam is certainly the Truth

    very good point!

Another thing is this, we as Muslims can have intra-Islamic dialogue and discussion but I think it's time that we are united in defence of our deen.

I'm not a salafist but I think brother Bassam Zawadi is excellent.

I am not a Shi'a but I think the debate between Dan Barker (an atheist) and the Shi'a cleric was amazing.

I propose we gather a list of Muslim apologist/debators and we have some kind of news letter, that we can all contribute to. On the last happenings on Islam and Christianity and things between.

It could be done with a caveat that the contributors do not necessarily agree with what everyone else contributes but the idea behind the project is defence of the deen and sharing of knowledge.

because I'm sorry to say this brothers/and sisters but our continued use of apologetic by Deedat and Zakir Naik (may Allah bless them both) is over 20 plus years outdated.

    continued...

  6. continued from above.

I would like to have a news letter or e-mail address /contacts of

    Sami Zatari
    MrIslanAnswersback
    Osama Abdullah
    Nadir Ahmed
    Shabir Ally
    Bassam Zawadi
    Yusuf Ismail
    Adnan Qureshi
    Abdullah Al Andalusi
    Sheikh Awal
    Abdul Al Arab
    Jamal Badawi
    Abdullah Kunde
    Yahya Hedar Seymour

there are few things that need to be addressed.

It's important that some of these brothers (Sami Zatari, MrIslamAnswersback, Abdullah Kunde) are funded.
1.5 billion Muslims folks, if we can't scrounge together 10 dollars here and 50 dollars there to get these people audio equipment or books than it's really shameful.

The other thing we do that is just God awful is simply post debates on youtube.
c'mon people how many 'Is Jesus God' debates can we plaster all over youtube?

I'm not saying it's wrong but we need break down of the debates, analysis, the arguments our opponents bring up and the strength and weaknesses of our own speakers.

Not only this, we Muslims are our own worst enemy. In the way we treat non Muslims or even the bad adaab we display towards ourselves.

Lastly, I myself am not above reproach by any of you. Not everyone will agree with my approach or the content of my blog but I am not above critique from anyone.

My e-mail address is thegrandverbalizer19@gmail.com your feed back (good, bad or ugly) is welcomed as long as it's done with sincerity fi sabilillah.

As salamu 'alikum wr wb my beautiful brothers and sisters in Islam.

  7. Two quick corrections,

    MrIslamAnswersback should be Shadid Lewis

and Abdul Al Arab should be Sheikh Jalal Abdualrub

I also wanted to add Ehteshaam Gulam to the list and make one last point.

I think that all of the debators/apologist I listed above should not be defending Islam if they are not schooled or no the basic doctrines of their respective positions on Islam.

This means you should understand your respective theological background,
Mutazalite, Ashari, Tahawi, Maturdi, Taheed Uloohiyah, Tawheed Roobiyah, or Tawheed Al Hakeemiya as some proclaim.

You should also read works written by Christians about their faith, we as Muslims would not expect any less when it comes to our cherished faith tradition.

These people should also read the works and life of the Prophet (saw) by Qadi Iyad Al Shifa and others.

  8. grandverbalizer19, why include the likes of Nadir Ahmed?
Of the 14 apologists you named, I would say that Shabir Ally is the most dominant.

  9. With the name of God, Peace be unto those who follow the guidance from their Lord.

Ibn , I honestly have issues with practically everyone on this list with maybe the exceptions of Abdullah Kunde, Abullah Al Andalusi,Shabir Ally and Bassam Zawadi, and one aother whom I missed out Farhan Qureshi mash'Allah.

Ehteshaam Gulam and Nadir Ahmed are not overly impressive, however if Nadir Ahmed irons out personal issues why not be given a second chance?

I don't think our deen teaches throw people under the bus. The thing I admire about all of them (Gulam, Nadir,) etc. is getting up on a podium to speak in front of others, not allot of people in our deen have the courage to do that unfortunately.

Allot of people on this list are diamonds in the rough.

But if the people decide that Nadir Ahmed should not be on such a list than let the will of the people be.

Keep in mind that Badawi doesn't do debates any more he's been out of action for quite some time.

Now you take that list and pair it up with this one.

    William Lane Craig
    Tony Costa
    James White
    Mike Licona
    Jay Smith
    Norman Geisler
    Sam Shamoun
    Nabeel Qureshi
    David Wood
    Mary Jo Sharp
    John Gilchrist

Now definitely the Christian list is impressive but notice something? Anyone?....

They have impressive web sites, video production, but almost everyone of those people with the exception of Licona, Nabeel, Wood, and Sharp have AGE... they are getting older.

Our guys have YOUTH. Most of the people on our list are under 35 or so.

Far from Muslim apologetics being "bankrupt' we are just getting started.

Now if we can stop re-hashing Qadiai/Ahmadiyyah style arguments on the crucifixion, and if Sunni Muslims can stop using Mutazalite style "logic and reason is on our side" type argumentation we will really be rolling insh'Allah.

  10. Assalamu Alaikum grandverbalizer

Regarding your list of Christian apologists, a great many of them have degrees in either philosophy or religious studies or both (in the case of William Lane Craig).

The problem with contemporary Muslim apologists, as I see it, is that most of them treat the defending of Islam as a hobby. They don't have degrees in Islamic studies either in the Western academic sense or in the traditional Islamic sense. It is also the case that those with formal academic training are averse to debating, such as Shaykh Hamza Yusuf. However you look at it, this a great disadvantage.

Of the few debaters that possess the academic prerequisites, Shabir Ally comes to mind. He should be wrapping up his PhD in Quranic Exegesis at the University of Toronto pretty soon.

  11. With the name of God,

walakum salam wr wb brother Ibn, I pray that these last few days of Ramadhan are immense spiritual benefit to you and your family and to all of us ameen!

Brother Yahya you should turn this discussion into a whole new post! haha.

    Ibn brought excellent points up!

"a great many of them have degrees in either philosophy or religious studies or both" < Great point!

"The problem with contemporary Muslim apologists, as I see it, is that most of them treat the defending of Islam as a hobby." < And even greater point!

"It is also the case that those with formal academic training are averse to debating, such as Shaykh Hamza Yusuf." < Interesting point.

Now I once mentioned this at Answeringmuslims and they replied "what does that say about the state of your apologist" as if they were making some great point.

But that actually is a great point! It shows that Islam doesn't really see Christianity as a credible threat, we do not have full time institutes like Zwelmer in Chicago that is about training missionaries on the ins and outs of Islam, various languages spoken by Muslims and how to 'witness' to Muslims.

Muslims see gross hedonism, materialism, pride, ego and vaingloriousness as more credible threats to Islam.

Which is actually interesting, Christians have not even debated ANY of our Shyookh or Alims think about it!

Whilst Muslim teenagers in paltalk, on youtube and in their mid 20s regularly debate top Christian spokespersons = to that of alim or sheikh in Christianity, and even than we don't do too bad!

Btw any of the Muslims brothers I mentioned I did not intend to say anything ill, I have tremendous respect for anyone who can get up infront of crowds and defend Islam against lies and accusations. They are all better than me!

  12. salaam,

I just heard from people. I coudn't find a link however there are muslim shows, except they're featured on christian channels (vision, cts). these are both from canada. one of the muslim shows is called "let the quran speak" where shabir ally is the co-host. also shabir ally appeared on the "michael coren show" a few days ago, along with a few other muslims. he spoke quite well (as always).

  13. Salam Alikum,

Brother TGV, I agree with you that we shouldnt rely too much on logic and reason while debating xtians but I think we should use reason and logic when debating atheists and agnostics in that case what do you think of brother Adam Deen and brother Hamza tzortzis...IMO brother Hamza tzortzis in an excellent debater and so is bro adam deen?

  14. walaikumsalam TGV

I hope your Ramadan is going really well and inshaallah it will just get better and better. Ameen

Too true. We are not being arrogant but I just don't feel taxed when speaking to a Christian preacher who is trying to convert me but an Atheist is a different proposition as you start at zero with him/her and more often than not you wind up speaking to an Agnostic-atheist rather than the hardcore type

You know TGV, you do WLC a disservice by lumping him in with Shamoun + Wood. Shamoun and Wood have delved deeper into the depraved depth recently and God willing I will show case it when I get a spot of time.

Subhanallah, I get the feeling some of these Christians do their stuff for cash and repute.

    @ Ali
Salam, inshaallah that show will be up on YT. Hopefully MBC or Nazam or some other YT Muslim will upload Shabir's latest outing

  15. With the name of God, Peace be unto those who follow the guidance from their Lord.

@ Ali yes brother Shabir does have a show 'let the Qur'an speak'.

You know in the previous generations the great muhadeethun and people seeking knowledge would traverse great distance by camel, horse or foot to sit with people of knowledge. If I was any where in Canada or even the NA continent I would make it a point to go and sit with Shabir and learn from him.

Btw I'm not comparing Shabir to a Muhadithun I'm just saying he is one of the most (if not THEE most learned) on apologetic.

I can tell you the most appealing aspect of Shabir to any non Muslims is his CALM. His complete trust in Allah you see it on his face when he debates mash'allah.

@ Anonymous you can use logic, deduction and reasoning with Atheist and Agnostics.

Adam Deen and brother Hamza tzortzis are indeed excellent debators, I like their poise, confidence and patience when other's speak.

They are also young and will become more sharp with time insh'Allah.

My over all intention was to give a list of who's who on each side the good, the bad..........and the Ugly
