How Daphne Iking Converted to Islam?

Malaysian Celebrity Daphne Iking's Conversion Story

Another celebrity has embraced Islam. Malaysian TV host, Daphne Iking, was introduced to Islam by the Malay businessman, Azmi Abdul Rahman (Joe) – now her husband.

Daphne Iking converted to Islam after study and spiritual enlightenment:

Daphne insists she would only have converted out of her free will.

"Islam is a beautiful religion. I've been studying it, especially after all the trials and turbulence in my life."

Her decision to embrace Islam and subsequently, marry Joe came in December last year, as she visited the Taj Mahal in India.

Its sorrowful sight, alongside passages of the Al-Quran, which decorated the majestic Islamic architecture, really moved her. The calligraphy on the Great Gate read: "O Soul, thou art at rest. Return to the Lord at peace with Him, and He at peace with you."

"I was spiritually enlightened. I told Joe I wanted to become a Muslim and be his wife. He was shocked," Daphne recollected.

We hope this will encourage others to study Islam and ultimately convert - God willing.

Awww that is so sweet, gives me goose bumps.

What a great testimony but not as great as this testimony

Testimony

I'm sure the new revert to Islam will fit right in and join in the persecution of Christians.

"Most of the episodes don't leave a trace and do not reach the clamour of the spotlight. Only when the victims' families trust in the Churches, foundations and NGOs, then the injustices come to light. Families often keep silent for fear of retaliation. And institutions are absent: in this situation, what can Christians do?"

She will enjoy her new life as a woman in Islam, at least it is better then a Christian womans status in Islam.

""Being a Christian woman in Pakistan is a dual challenge. Even the status of women is itself exposed to discrimination, violence and abuse. Women struggle to gain access to education and the world of work. Those Christians are doubly discriminated against. They are considered as objects by Muslims and suffer all sorts of abuse and injustice to general indifference."

Yeah she put a lot of thought into this one LOL.

That's like someone going to Rome and walking in the Vatican and becoming a Catholic.

Or someone visiting the great pyramids and becoming a worshiper of Osirus.

Yeah great revert story LOL

Proving once again what I have always said "Islam makes smart people dumb and dumb people stupid."

obviously radical moderate is just jealous the holy spirit didn't get to her first.

btw has anyone ver noticed Noor al-Maleki's boyfriend was a Muslim? That's not what Robert Spencer and Pamela Geller thought initially. Would Answering Muslims even admit to that?

The woman Noor was with didn't have her name released for a long time, and it turned out to be a Muslim name when it was given to the public.

I agree. Islam has made you really stupid.

@anonymous,

Why the unpleasant sarcasm and confrontation?

Please stop. She has converted to Islam and she is happy. Haters like yourself who are bringing up events which are unrelated to her should stop and think.

NOBODY on the net is responsible for what is happening in Pakistan or any other persecuation of christians - least of all this lady.

I invite you to drop your prejudice and convert to the Truth as well. Clearly you have an axe to grind - converting to Islam will set you on a spiritual journey. Would you like to worship the God of Jesus? If yes, please convert to Islam.

Even the Bible shows Jesus worshipping God as a Muslim. I invite you to such worship.

May Allah guide us all and send peace and blessings upon all the Prophets. ameen.

Radical Moderate,

I have tried to talk you out of your sorry state of Islamophobia.

I pray Allah guides you away from such hatred of the Truth.

In case you forgot - she STUDIED and converted through spiritual enlightenment.

So she learned and felt spirituality, hence her conversion.

Islam is a very spiritual religion. I invite you to spirituality.

I've noticed you refrain from commenting on issues being brought up concerning the Bible but you offer scorn and insults directed at personalities or Muslims in the news.

Any way, here is something which wioll send the insincere packing:

anonymous & radical moderate ,

Ha ha .... 'sour grapes'. Too bad dudes , we win you lose , yet again. One more revert to Islam is one less christian. Its a zero sum game.

Like what bro Yahya commented. The very least she studied Islam. Compare that to the conversion stories by christians who saw biblical jesus in their dreams. How do they know how he looks like? You know how biblical jesus looks like?

This is classic comedy.

Yahya, you are deceiving yourself if you think your posts attacking the Bible, one of which you linked to above, are somehow unanswerable by Christians. In fact, if you didn't discredit yourself by walking into some embarassing refutations in the past from several AI and AM authors, and then declining debate challenges, and then giving yourself over to the slander approach, you could put your arguments to the test.

Rejecting debate challenges? In doing so, this somehow discredits oneself - according to your logic.

Now, if I challenged you to a debate and you rejected, I would not consider it as a discredit to yourself.

I suppose you are talking about Mr Rogers' debate challenge. Well, I had a little scholarly article up my sleeve for him - one about the (Mal'ak Yahweh)Angel of the Lord. I could have posted it over the weekend but circumstances dictate. Watch this space...

Perhaps you are talking about the empty challenges of Mr Shamoun. They are empty and vague challenges. Plus, if we apply your criteria of lending discredit to oneself we would not take the fella seriously. Consistency, anybody?

As for folk from AM offering refutation. Come on, that's what they may have fed you - don't believe it. Search the Naeel Qureshi and Dave Wood section and you shall see folk from the AM site have offered next to nothing.

As for AI, are you kidding me? Really!

Have a look into the section on their chief writer. A few of his lies have been catalogued.

Perhaps you are talking about the commentator who just scoffed at the article showing Muslims are blessed according to a Bible verse (sift through the archives to see what I'm referencing). Now, that scoffing just reflected a lack of response. Anonymous scoffing at that! Perhaps it was one of AI's heavy weights - I would not be surprised. In my book, that is not a refutation.

Slander? Reporting Mr Shamoun's outbursts is slander all of a sudden. Please, give me a break.

As for putting arguments to the test, I do this by leaving an email addy and comment section. AI and AM do not monopolize Christian apologetics. Many Christians are positively against free speech - they control their comment boxes day and night. So who is afraid of putting arguments to the test? Not me!

Now, I'm not claiming my posts are unanswerable, I am positing the idea my posts cannot be answered adequately. Anybody can offer a response, in fact, you have offered a response just now. However, the response has to be sufficient to withstand scrutiny.

The post on the Holy Spirit must have been quite faith shattering for some. The post is not about being unable to distinguish between God and the Devil, but about having the "Holy Spirit" in you and still being unable to make the differentiation!

Would you like to worship the One who created Jesus? If yes, please come to Islam.

Haaaaaa, it looks like I got to you. Calm down.

About the only interesting thing in what you said was that you claim to have a scholarly response coming for one of the AI/AM writers, Mr. Rogers. I can't wait. I will make sure I pass the word along to someone so he knows to keep his eye out for it. This should be good.

My the name of the Lord Jesus be praised to the highest heavens. Amen.

Okay, now you are teasing me. I have been watching this space for your new "scholarly" post, but I haven't seen it yet? Pardon my impatience, but you have me salivating.

Came across this blog and was interested in the responses to Daphne converting to Islam. It is her liberty to choose her religion, as it should be for ALL people, including Malays. That being said, I almost felt - given her particular circumstances and timing - she converted as a public relations move to salvage her career by having the sympathy of her majority audience, no offense meant to Daph or anyone. Good luck to her career and new life!

Just a reminder to everyone not to treat religion as a business - selling one as better than another. Faith is meant to be personal.

This week Yasir Afifi, a 20-year-old business marketing student from Santa Clara flew to Washington D.C. with a representative from CAIR’s San Francisco Bay Area chapter (CAIR-SFBA) to file suit against the FBI and the U.S. Justice Department for violating his constitutional rights. An attorney from CAIR said, “We bring this lawsuit here today to once and for all seek a court order declaring that any use of tracking devices by any law enforcement agent, anywhere in the United States, is a violation of the Fourth Amendment, and is unconstitutional.”

Last Fall we reported when Yasir Afifi discovered the GPS tracking device planted under his car. Within a week he was pulled over by two black SUVs, lights flashing, carrying four officers in bullet proof vests and two FBI agents demanding their equipment back. The female agent was Jennifer Kanaan, a Lebanese woman who often plays “good cop” when targeting the Muslim community. The male agent, Vincent, told him, “We’re going to make this much more difficult for you if you don’t cooperate.”

Afifi is an American citizen by birth and said, “I’m sure I’ve done nothing wrong to provoke anybody’s interest.” Even the agent that confronted him told him, “You’re boring.” His only crime was fitting a racial/religious profile. Afifi is of Egyptian descent and frequently visits relatives in the Middle East.

FBI Spokesman Michael Kortan said the agency complies with, “guidelines that determine what investigative steps or techniques are appropriate. Those guidelines also ensure the protection of civil and constitutional rights."

But that's not entirely true.

UC Hastings Law Professor Rory Little believes Afifi's case is headed for the Supreme Court because the law on this issue is unclear, with contradictory rulings from the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the District of Columbia Court of Appeals.

Last year the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals gave law enforcement the power to plant a secret GPS tracking device on anyone’s car without a warrant, even if it’s parked in a private driveway.

A legal precedent known as the ''open fields doctrine'' holds that there is no expectation of privacy on private property that is not fenced in. Beyond that, the court hheld that so long as a vehicle is on a public road, tracking it is legally no different than following in an unmarked car, which does not require a warrant.

Chief Judge Alex Kozinski warns in his dissenting opinion, ''We are taking a giant leap into the unknown, and the consequences for ourselves and our children may be dire and irreversible. Some day, soon, we may wake up and find we're living in Oceania,'' referring to the authoritarian state in George Orwell's dystopian classic, 1984.

Last August the D.C. Court ruled the exact opposite, that law enforcement does need a warrant when tracking a car by GPS.

Since the early 80s the Supreme Court has held that police can follow a vehicle assisted by a radio transmitter because that movement is already observable with the naked eye. But tracking with a radio transmitter requires the attention of an officer following the vehicle in real time. A GPS unit can record movements for months at a time. In other words, while there is no expectation of privacy on public roads, it is reasonable to expect a general anonymity.

George Washington University Law Professor Orin Kerr asks, ''When is the line crossed?'' The distinction in this decision is not the type of surveillance, but it's duration. Kerr worries that determining when a warrant becomes necessary is functionally at the discretion of the officer. He says, ''the tool (GPS) is just that much more dangerous because even though the information that is obtained is the same, there's just a greater risk of abuse.''

German Turks "disappointed" after new minister plays down Islam
Mar 7, 2011, 11:36 GMT

Berlin - Germany's Turkish community expressed 'disappointment' Monday at newly-appointed Interior Minister Hans- Peter Friedrich playing down the role of Islam in Germany.

'There is no historical evidence for the notion that Islam belongs to Germany,' Friedrich said at a press conference on Thursday, just hours after he was appointed interior minister.

That comment had caused 'great disappointment' amongst local Islamic organizations, Turkish community leader Kenan Kolat was quoted as saying in Monday's Berliner Zeitung newspaper.

The resurgent debate about the role of Islam in Germany comes barely a week after Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan warned compatriots during a visit to the German city of Dusseldorf against losing their culture.

Friedrich, who belongs to Bavaria's conservative Christian Social Union, has refused to back down from his statement. But he has since adopted a more conciliatory tone.

Successful integration requires 'knowledge about the social reality in Germany - which includes around 4 million Muslims - and a clear awareness of Christian-occidental culture,' he said.

But Kolat remained sceptical of a promise by Friedrich to continue a series of discussions with Islamic leaders, known as the Islam Conference, that took place under his predecessor Thomas de Maiziere. The next such meeting has been scheduled for March 29.

The Turkish community leader said he hoped this was a serious offer, and that Friedrich was prepared to participate in an 'honest debate' about the historic influence of Islam on Europe.

Friedrich's remark on Thursday contradicted a statement by President Christian Wulff last year, who was lauded by Muslim groups at the time when he said that Islam 'belonged' in Germany, just as Christianity and Judaism did.

'Islam is a part of Germany,' Wulff reiterated in an interview with Arab broadcaster Al Jazeera last week, days before Friedrich took over as interior minister.

Friedrich has been backed by members of Chancellor Angela Merkel's Christian Democrats (CDU), with whom the CSU is allied in government.

'Islam did not shape our society and does not shape it today. Islam therefore does not belong to Germany,' the parliamentary head of the CDU and CSU, Volker Kauder, told Passauer Neue Presse.

Friedrich was appointed interior minister in a cabinet reshuffle after former defence minister Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg resigned last week.

What do you expect from Retarded Moderately? Juxtaposing conversation stories reveals something quite profound. Watching the so called “ex-mulsims” videos, the clowns being paraded as converts to Christianity seem to have graduated the same acting school as the infomercial actors promoting a “psychic”, or some magic hair growth formula. What I find most laughable and sad is they all follow the same script. “Yes I grew up in an Islamic family, we all prayed, read the ‘Koran’, until one day a christain introduced me to christ, now I know I am saved, now I know god loves me”. Where’s your answer to Hamza Yusuf, Siraj Wahaj, Dr. Abdullah Hakim Quick, Abdur Raheem Green, Dr. Bilal Phillips, Dr. Laurence Brown, Yusuf Estes, etc. etc. Oh that’s right…NABEEL QURAISHI. Anyways, a christian converts to Islam based on years of soul searching, critically analyzing all religions using logic, reason and God given intellect as his/her guide. They all give lectures lasting hours as to why they converted, and delve into profound theological grounds. A so called ex muslim converts because “I didn’t find love in the Quran, or nabeel quraishi…why he had A dream about a cross! Lol Cheers
