Center For Religious Debate Do it Once Again!

One would have thought The Center for Religious Debate would have learnt its lesson from the Osama Abdallah debates? That's not the case.

There is a saying, fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. What's this about? Harp your minds back to the Osama Abdallah debates that The Center for Religious Debate organised. They drafted Osama in at short notice and had him debate 4 different  topics with 4 different opponents:

Osama, from my understanding had FOUR DEBATES against FOUR different opponents in TWO days
This is a ridiculous amount of responsibility to take on. I actually criticise Osama for taking on such a work load. Why he did so I am not sure. It certainly is not wise and nor beneficial to oneself or the audience. How does he expect to do each topic justice with his attention diverted 4 ways? This is not a game – it’s serious business.

You can’t offer the same clarity, quality information and quality argumentation in each debate as you would if you focussed on one debate like each one of his opponents

Allowing the Muslim to take on such a huge workload obviously affected the quality of the dialogues.

So one would have thought The Center for Religious Debate would not go down that route again. Well they have. Here we see, from the flyer, Shadid Lewis (Muslim debater) is due to debate 4 different topics against 4 different opponents all in the course of 4 days. In fact, I'm not sure but I suspect it may even be 5 debates as Shadid Lewis has another debate lined up which is not mentioned in the flyer.

One wonders whether this is something the Christian debate group (The Center for Religious Debate) welcomes as it offers the Christian debaters an advantage.

Jesus taught people to do the Will of God (according to Mark 3:35) in order to become his brothers, mothers or sisters. A Muslim means one who submits to the Will of God. Do you want to become a brother of Jesus? If yes, become a Muslim. Now is the time.

  1. Shadid had plenty of notice. You are speaking from ignorance.

But thanks for rolling out the excuses already. Obviously you lack confidence in the MDI and its representative.

  2. One more thing: you should really be down on your fellow Muslims since so few of them (like yourself) are willing to step up, especially here in America.

  3. Lol! Just because these debates were announced publicly two weeks in advance does not mean they were planned only two weeks before. Excuses, excuses.

  4. LOL so its the Christians fault that the Muslim accepted these debates.

    Always blame the Kuffar.

Besides Snowman what do u care your just going to declare victory for Islam do it doesn't matter how many Christians a single Muslim debates.

And if your so concerned with Shadeed and other Muslims taking on such a work load then step and throw your name in the ring and debate.

  6. Anon hater. The complaint is about shadid debating lots in 4/5 days. Dnt matter if he has more then to weeks to practice. It's hard to debate lots of people. Shadeed Lewis is like a wrestler beating 4 guys up in ring at same time. If it was 1 v 1 shadid will beat he Christian easy. Might be that shadid wants a challenge cod he can beat 1 Christian easy. Shadid is like rock in wrestling having handicap match v 4 guys. Who is bob Siegel. I think they might be scared of shadid Lewis.

  14. @anon who claimed I'm speaking from ignorance and Shadid has had plenty of notice.

I never claimed he has had insufficient notice - in fact I made no mention of the notice. The point which you glossed over, my main point, Shadid's workload of having to debate 4/5 different topics against different opponents in the space of 4 days is not something that is conducive to quality on the part of Shadid. Is that fair o the audience - the example of Osama Abdallah was cited. The workload is too much imo thus giving the opposition an advantage

    @Nakdimon

You as a Christian believe them to be correct? Or do you believe that too could be a forgery akin to the last 12 verses of Mark?

The 'according to Mark' should be sufficient that I'm not making a definitive statement on that verse. We have seen in the past, Gospel writers and/or scribes make false attributions.

  15. Snowman your missing the point. Its Shadeed Lewis who accepted the debates so he is confident that he can do a good job. If you are worried that he is taking on to much then why not step up and debate with Shadeed. I mean help a brother out will ya.

Shadeed is more then capable and more then able to successfully defend your faith even if you think he is not.

Either way it will be much better then the disaster of Osama.

  16. So it is agreed that shadid had sufficient notice. Now all u have to do is see that debating two hours a day for four days is hardly a big workload. Apparently u, Yahya, have a low work ethic.

  17. Snowman Shadeed is going to do a good job so just relax. Even David WOod said he is the best debater in the USA.

  18. Yeah, Shadid had a clear disadvantage, but he actually won all the debates at that church so far.
