Explanation: 'He is with you wherever you are' (Quran 57:4)

Asked about the Quranic verse 'And He is with you wherever you are' (57:4), the Companion Ibn Abbas did not take it literally. He explained that this meant God is aware and cognizant of you wherever you are. Similarly, a Hadith describing how God 'draws near to the believer by an arm's length' is explained by Companions as referring to the nearness of His mercy as opposed to physical movement.  'Misquoting Muhammad', Jonathan A.C Brown, Kindle p46
