"Of the perfection of one's faith is that he leaves that which does not concern him"

The famous hadith master Abu Dawud al-Sijistani (d. 275 AH) once remarked that the entire religion of Islam revolves around four traditions of the Prophet (salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam). One of those that he considered to be so fundamental is the hadith: "Of the perfection of one's faith is that he leaves that which does not concern him" [Reported by al-Tirmidhi].

Ponder over the manners that this hadith strives to inculcate in all of us, and then let each one of us examine his or her own life, statements and actions to see the extent that we have implemented this profound saying of our Prophet (salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam).
