Scandal: Kamal Saleem’s THREE Different Conversion Stories!

The evangelical fraudster, ‘ex muslim terrorist’ Kamal Saleem (aka Khodor Kamal Saleem Al Shami), STILL has some supporters amongst the evangelical community – chiefly Pat Robertson and the 700 Club brigade – despite Kamal Saleem clearly being on par with the other evangelical fraudster – Ergun Caner.

In this episode we bring you Kamal Saleem’s THREE DIFFERENT conversion stories. How in the world did this Arab Christian manage to dupe so many Christians? Why have his supporters (what’s left of them) not clicked onto the fact he has THREE DIFFERENT Islam to Christianity stories circulating?

Kamal Saleem’s THREE Conversion stories

Conversion Story 1 - ABNSAT

In this conversion story Kamal Saleem is hospitalized through a car crash and ‘Jesus’ came to him whilst he is on his hospital bed and healed his bones.

Conversion story 2 - KSLTV

In this conversion story, the doctors and the man who tended to him on the road (post crash) changed Kamal Saleem's life. There is NO claim of ‘Jesus’ paying him a hospital visit and healing his bones. In fact this conversion story is very much due to the love Christians offered to him.

Conversion story 3 - CBN

In this conversion story, Kamal Saleem was healed by the doctors through conventional medical means (in this version, ‘Jesus’ did not heal him nor did he visit him at hospital ).

Kamal Saleem went to the doctor’s home to convalesce and fully recuperate after being discharged from hospital. Once he was well enough to take care of himself, Kamal Saleem had his hospital bills paid for by donations from local Christians and was also given a new car. He went home and questioned his ‘Muslim faith’ and then had a vision of ‘Jesus’ in his home.

Synopsis + Kamal Saleem hiding names

Kamal Saleem claimed he saw ‘Jesus’ and was healed by him in the hospital

BUT Kamal contradicted himself by claiming he recovered at the hands of the doctors (no mention of seeing ‘Jesus’ in hospital nor being healed by ‘Jesus’) and went home and saw ‘Jesus’ after attempting suicide.

BUT BUT Kamal Saleem in another conversion story has no mention of seeing ‘Jesus’ or being healed by ‘Jesus’ – the doctors and Christian love changed his life.

So which is it:

1. Was Kamal's 'conversion' due to being visited and healed by 'Jesus'  in hospital?

2. OR was Kamal's conversion due to him recovering from a car accident, then going home once fully recovered to question his Muslim faith and seeing 'Jesus' in his home.

3. OR was Kamal's conversion due to Christian love and kindness from the doctors and the community who took him in?

KAMAL has presented ALL of the above. I'd like to present another option:

Kamal Saleem is a fraud who has profiteered by deceiving Christians...

As previously noted, Christians doubt Kamal Saleem’s stories and Kamal Saleem has refused to divulge his real name, the names of the doctors and hospital (allegedly) concerned. Got something to hide, Kamal? Well you have not now – we all but know you are a con man. Time to come clean…

Christians desperate for former Muslims turned Christians

Hmmm, Kamal Saleem’s contradictory conversion stories are more obvious than the Gospel contradictions yet he is STILL milking gullible Christians for cash. Interesting, very interesting!

The underlying reasons behind why con artists such as Ergun Caner, Kamal Saleem and Walid Shoebat can survive and even thrive in evangelical communities despite being obvious frauds is simple; some evangelical Christians are desperate to evangelize the Muslim community by hook or crook.

Quite why the ‘holy spirit guided Christians’ are so easily duped by such conmen is left to you to ponder upon...

Christians doubt Kamal Saleem

Iron sharpens iron as one man sharpens another.

The Fraudster Kamal Saleem’s Real Name?

Kamal Saleem has been milking gullible Christians (for cash) with his terrorist turned Christian charade for long enough. Discerning Muslims, Christians and secularists have been speaking out against Kamal Saleem’s fanciful stories for a while now – yet there are still some Christian folk out there who support Kamal Saleem.
Kamal's tricks...

Endangering Kamal Saleem’s life?

I have no issue with Kamal Saleem using a pseudonym but when he is presenting an obviously fanciful story in milking gullible Christians (for cash) whilst coyly concealing details which would pinpoint him as a fraud, then good folk need to speak out.

I received an email from a person purporting to be Kamal Saleem’s nephew. Obviously, the claims within the email cannot be verified but making it public consumption could benefit folk who are investigating Mr Saleem. For what it’s worth here is the email concerning Kamal Saleem’s identity and past:

Dear Yahya

Kamal Saleem real name is Khodor Kamal Saleem Al Shami and he is my
uncle.Kamal his father and Saleem is his grand father. My mom is the
older sister to Khodor " Kamal Saleem" . All of his story is a complete
fake.
If you need to know anything about him please feel free to contact me.

Best Regards
[Name censored]

Substance to the email

In checking this out I noticed Reza Aslan and Doug Howard lend support to the above email.

Reza Aslan has a similar name for Kamal Saleem: Kamal Saleem, whose real name is Khodor Shami, worked for Pat Robertson’s Christian Broadcasting Network for sixteen years, and was hired by Focus on the Family in 2003. In 2006, he launched Koome Ministries, whose mission is to “expose the true agenda of [Muslims] who would deceive our nation and the free nations of the world... Christians don’t believe Kamal Saleem’s Conversion story

I will tell you Kamal Saleem has THREE DIFFERENT conversion stories. However, Christians have found his conversion story to be implausible for other reasons – one of which being Mr. Saleem’s concealing of details and names of folk/places involved:

Their concerns had to do not with his fabricated terrorist past but with his implausible conversion story. The physician treating Kamal Saleem took him into his own home because his medical bills were excessive and he had no health insurance? Then why the reluctance to identify the doctor, or the city and hospital where it happened? [“Mixed Message: The testimony of a self-described former terrorist,” by Doug Howard, for ChristianityToday.com]

Calling a Fraud a Fraud

Doug Howard writes: Describing the controversy surrounding his 2008 appearance at the Air Force Academy, he writes that “a college professor specifically called me a ‘fraud.’ ” I was that college professor, and having now read his book, I see no reason to withdraw the assessment. I want to know why a person who so vividly recalls maneuvers carried out when he was seven years old has such vague memories of his twenties. ‘Holy Spirit inspired Christians’

How is it all these ‘Holy Spirit inspired Christians’ are unable to see Kamal Saleem as the fraud he clearly is? I shall tell you this murky saga does not bode well in Christian attempts to convince non-christians of Pauline Christianity. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot whilst emptying your wallets to an obvious con man!

ABNSat Hoax: Kamal Saleem's Fanciful Conversion Figures

Absurd: Kamal Saleem’s 17 million Iranians converted to Christianity last year

Kamal Saleem has the glass of scrutiny firmly fixed upon him, he knows this. Despite knowing this he climbs aboard Samar Gorial's English show on ABN (Aramaic Broadcasting Network) and he blunders spectacularly by presenting outrageous Christian propaganda that the most gullible fundamentalist will baulk at.

The alleged former terrorist, Kamal Saleem, whilst asking for support (money) from his Christian audience threw in a few stun grenades (pun intended) and certainly stunned me into action; I have no idea if anybody was stunned to empty their bank accounts to ABNSat through Saleem’s Christian propaganda.

What Propaganda?

Kamal Saleem claimed, with a straight face, that 17 million Iranians converted to Christianity last year! Somebody needs to tell him Press TV, in January 2010 (this year), stated the figure of Christians in Iran is between 100,000 and 300,000 – that is less than half a million. Clearly our friend Kamal was presenting misinformation. Where he got this bout of propaganda from is beyond me. Care to explain, Kamal?

Even Christians disagree with Kamal Saleem’s unsupported claims

Worthy Christian News, in June of this year (2010) estimated the Christian population to be at least 100, 000 [1]. The figure is not even half a million. Also Wikipedia have it down as three hundred thousand; again, not even half a million [3].

Kamal Saleem presents another “difficult to believe” claim

He claims the number of Muslims converted to Christianity last year is a staggering 60 million! This is a bin load of rubbish too. It is notoriously difficult to gain an accurate estimation when it comes to conversions but the figure that generally gets banded about is that of about 2.5 million (two and a half million) conversions to Christianity each year from ALL faiths, globally [2]. Clearly, Kamal Saleem’s figure is implausible and hugely unsupported.

Did Kamal Saleem REALLY make these far fetched claims?

Yes, he did blow us away with these claims (terrorism pun intended). I have the video evidence, have a look for yourself

Kamal Saleem is under YouTube scrutiny

It appears Kamal Saleem is being presented as the “new Ergun Caner”. Last night I came across a YouTube video labelling him a fake “Ex Muslim”; the video by 1MoreMuslim took us through some of Kamal Saleem’s blunders.

For those who are unaware, Ergun Caner was claiming to be an “ex-Muslim” yet he made glaring errors in his pronouncements on Islam and has recently been removed from his post at Liberty University.

I noticed Kamal Saleem has TWO conversion stories?

Maybe Kamal Saleem converted to Christianity TWICE? Or, more realistically, our friend Kamal has been caught telling tales. They always say; if you are going to lie, make sure you have a good memory. It will be interesting to see if Kamal Saleem comes through the current scrutiny unscathed (terrorist pun intended) or as a fraud

The last thing the Church wants right now is another charlatan being excommunicated

Will Kamal Saleem stand up to close scrutiny?

Here is 1MoreMuslim’s first video investigating Kamal Saleem. Kamal really does not look or sound like a former terrorist. I would really like him to answer for the discrepancies is this video (he even claims to be a hafiz by reading the Quran three times):

Appendix
A snip from Wikipedia with regards to the difficulty of putting figures on conversions:

Statistics for rates of conversion are the most difficult to gather and the least reliable: they are often distorted by social taboos such as the ban on apostasy in Islam, sometimes amplified by governments and policies at social institutions like universities[3][4] or the reporting of commitments where the individual does not persist. This means that a lot of the data on growth of religions is derived from birth and immigration rates.

There are a large number of people who self-identify themselves as associated to a specific religion, but who are not religiously active. If, for example, asked to choose between Christianity and other religions they would say they were Christians; if asked to choose between Christianity, other religions and "Not religious", they would say "Not religious". This may make categorization difficult.
