Prophet Abraham Stoned the Devil

Sheikh Yasir Qadhi teaches us that the practice of stoning the Devil during the Hajj pilgrimage is Abrahamic. Whilst Abraham was attempting to fulfil God's order of sacrificing Ishmael Satan appeared and tried to prevent Abraham from obeying the command of God - Abraham pelted Satan with 7 stones.

Thus the act of pelting the Devil during the Hajj is Abrahamic. It's not a pagan act.

Pre-Islamic Arab Monotheism

These people would have described themselves as Hanifs. Ishmael and Abraham (pbut) introduced monotheism into the Arabian Peninsula. Outside of sources of Islamic tradition there is other documentation related to this Pre-Islamic monotheism in Arabia:

There are confirmations independent of Islamic tradition of the existence of the pre-Islamic Arab monotheism: as early as the fifth century, the Palestinian Christian historian Sozomenus sketched the outlines of a pre-Mosaic monotheism which he said, some Arabs had rediscovered and still practiced in his own day

[Sourced from p175, The Oxford Illustrated History of Christianity - Edited by John Mcmanners, Oxford University Press, 1990]

If anybody is interested in following the teachings of the Prophets - the most obvious start is to begin by practicing pure monotheism - Islamic monotheism.

Muslims are blessed according to the Bible (Genesis 12:3)

Muslims are blessed
We already know Muslims are the brothers/sisters of Jesus but do you know it does not stop here; according to the Bible, God says this, whilst addressing Abram (Abraham):

I will bless those who bless you,and whoever curses you I will curse;
and all peoples on earth
will be blessed through you.
(Genesis 12:3 NIV)

Thus Muslims are blessed according to the Bible (Genesis 12:3)

So obviously, those who take this Bible verse seriously will be asking God to send peace and blessings upon Abraham (p).

Muslims do pray for Abraham (and all other Prophets) – when we mention any previous Prophet’s name in everyday conversation we say alaihissalam (peace be on him) – thus according to this passage in the Bible Muslims are indeed blessed.

It is interesting to note Muslims are the ones who maintain this practice of praying for Abraham whilst Christians do not.
