Muslim message to Jesse Quinn Harrison of Tulsa

We invite you to the Truth

Islamophobes are out for themselves

Sir, please have a rethink. You are now looking at appearances in court and a possible criminal conviction. I will tell you the Islamophobes on the internet who peddle hatred and fear-mongering against Muslims generally have one thing in common – a desire for cash!

Jesse, they do NOT care about you. In my view, you have fallen for their rhetoric – a rhetoric which is generally geared towards gaining donations. In fact, one known Islamophobe threw you under the bus by claiming you did not sound entirely “competent”

For those who do not know Jesse Quinn Harrison

Jesse made a YouTube video desecrating an English translation of the Quran. He has now (allegedly) sent an intimidating 9 page letter to the Islamic Peace Academy.

Jesse, come to Islam and make videos against Islamophobia!

Have you ever seen the Muslim prayer on TV? I’d imagine you have. Have you ever wondered as to the spiritual bliss engendered with the prayer? I’d imagine you have not. The way to find out is by becoming a Muslim and experiencing it for oneself – it is quite literally out of this world.

If you are a Christian I would like to inform you we BELIEVE in Jesus too and MUSLIMS are the brothers/sisters of Jesus. Not only would you become a brother of Jesus but you would also acquire a focus to carry out constructive and peaceful endeavours IF you become a Muslim. Quite simply, Islam will be a vehicle to change your ways.

Moreover, and most importantly, you will have a relationship with the One who created you. Jesse, if you want all these positives, please enter Islam today:

Jesse, a quick point on 9/11

Jesse, if you truly care about the victims of 9/11 you would stop blaming all Muslims (or Islam) for the crime. Islam does NOT support 9/11. The perpetrators committed an evil which was NOTHING to do with Islam. Muslims died that day. Our scholars have been speaking out against terrorists well BEFORE 9/11.

Go to your local Islamic centre with a sincere heart and find out the truth. Don’t just believe the agenda-based material peddled by cash-hungry Islamophobes.

A Tulsa man is charged with a hate crime for allegedly sending an intimidating letter to the Islamic Peace Academy and posting a video online showing him desecrating a Quran, court records show.

Jesse Quinn Harrison, 33, was charged Tuesday with one count each of transmitting a threatening letter and malicious intimidation or harassment - what Oklahoma statutes call a hate crime.

According to the charges, Harrison is accused of sending a nine-page letter to the Islamic Peace Academy in Tulsa "with the intent to intimidate."

He also made a video that shows him "smearing pork on the Quran and an Islamic religious figure and grilling those items," according to the charge.

The charge states that the video was made to "produce violence directed to others because of their religious beliefs."

A man with the same name and Tulsa address as those listed on the charges posted on Facebook a YouTube video that matches the one described in the charges.

The 5 1/2-minute video, posted to YouTube on Oct. 1, is attributed there to a "Rockwell Porter" - a name the charges list as an alias for Harrison.

The video, which doesn't show its creator's face, intersperses images of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the United States with the grilling of a Quran, a picture of an Islamic figure and two pork chops. Once the items are grilled, they are stacked on a bun and given to a dog.

The Merle Haggard songs "The Fightin' Side of Me" and "Okie from Muskogee" play in the background.

At the end of the video, a memorial to Michele Heidenberger, a flight attendant who died when terrorists crashed her plane into the Pentagon, is shown on the screen.

According to the charges, Harrison also uses Heidenberger's name as an alias.

The video and a brief anti-Islamic message were posted by Harrison's account on several additional Facebook pages, including those of the White House and the FBI.

On a Dec. 15 Facebook entry, Harrison threatens to "march on the Tulsa Islamic Mosque" on New Year's Eve.

The charges allege that the crimes occurred between Sept. 17 and Dec. 20.

A warrant for Harrison's arrest also was issued Tuesday.

No one was home Thursday evening at the address listed for Harrison on the charges and on Facebook.

A neighbor said Harrison has not been at the residence since last week.

A spokeswoman for the Islamic Society of Tulsa would not comment Thursday.

Muneer Awad, executive director of the Oklahoma Chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, said he didn't know any details of the case, but he said more hostile rhetoric toward Islam has recently worked its way into the mainstream.

@Ibn

I feel that guy is a great guy. Since I feel that way about him, I can only conclude since this was your only response to my question, that you feel the same way about Abu Mounisa.

Thanks for sharing your feelings. I do appreciate honesty in a Muslim, it is such a rarity, even rarer then gold.

@fatman

What about him?

His words are indeed unwise but his sentiment of opposing capitalism is waht EVERY religious person should be striving to do.

Of course, "opposing" does not refer to physical opposition. An intellectual battle is required, we need to debate these people and show them Islam is superior and has more to offer than the shallow happiness (and profound spiritual misery) which accopmpanies capitalism. Capitalism is an enemy to all religions as it is a destroyer of spirituality

Perhaps you don't care about your country leaving religion and churning out shallow materialists as members of the society. Look at our culture, we have people striving to be like Paris Hilton and the underlying message is one of an uncontrolled consumer.

Jesus would certainly oppose the cpaitalism of today. Western Capitalism is a colonisation of the mind - it appears many have been indoctrinated down that route. Islam has helped me see through such a shallow scheme.

Seen as you threw a Brit my way I will throw a shed load of Americans your way; the superficial crew of Hollywood.

No wonder you're single.

His words were unwise? LOL
So does that mean he could of expressed himself better then saying "We should BEHEAD capitalism? Or when he refereed to slapping woman in the street should he have said that better.

But in-spite of how he said it you still support the man's idea's. Ok good to know.

As far as you bringing up Hollywood actors, sorry I do not see the relevance in that.

Wow you really are grasping at straws.

@TheFatMan,

You know, when I initially saw your handle and some of your commenting I thought you were Sam. I now know you're not Sam, but you seem to be the new Sam.

From what I have gathered you are doing debates on a chat site and making a name for yourself.

Perhaps, soon you will be asking for cash like Sam.

Please do send me links to your debates. Maybe I will review one or two.

You said " I thought you were Sam. I now know you're not Sam, but you seem to be the new Sam."

Wow thats the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me. I'm all chocked up in side. The new Sam. What a compliment.

Unfortunately I am no new Sam not even close. So I can only assume that was a insult at Sam Shamoun. Who Dr White said "Is a Warrior... He shreds Muslim arguments"

But hey thanks for the compliment just the same.

Oh as far as capitalism is concerned. You might want to ask Ibn why he has a Master degree in western capitalism economics and not in Sharia economics. :)

A Tulsa man who is charged with making threats against a local mosque and is being held in a mental health facility said he is not a violent person and that his message has been misinterpreted.

Jesse Quinn Harrison, 33, was charged Dec. 28 with transmitting a threatening letter and with malicious intimidation or harassment under Oklahoma's hate-crimes statute. The charges allege that Harrison sent a letter to the Islamic Peace Academy "with the intent to intimidate."

The charges also allege that a video showing Harrison "smearing pork on the Quran and (on a picture of) an Islamic religious figure and grilling those items" was posted online by Harrison with the intent of producing "violence directed to others because of their religious belief."

But Harrison told the Tulsa World that although he recognizes that the video could be offensive to many, it was not his intent to harass Muslims. He said his goal was to "shine a light on the hypocrisy and fear that drives so much hate" and that the video is an exercise of his First Amendment right to free speech.

Harrison said he voluntarily admitted himself to the Tulsa Center for Behavioral Health on Dec. 18 but has been held there against his will since the charges were filed Dec. 28. He is scheduled for a mental-health hearing Monday in Tulsa County District Court.

According to a court affidavit filed Monday by Tulsa Police Cpl. Brian Blair, Harrison sent a packet containing a DVD and nine pages to the Peace Academy on Oct. 22.

The DVD contains images of family photos, business and personal records, and several videos and photos related to Harrison's Quran burning and target practice with handguns, according to both the affidavit and Harrison.

The packet included Harrison's resume, a letter outlining a domestic assault witnessed by Harrison, a letter to FBI Director Robert Mueller and "a message" to the people of Islam asking "Who am I?" and "Who are you?"

Harrison posted on his Facebook page that he intended to "march on the Tulsa Islamic Mosque" on Dec. 31 and "will await Islam's Fatwa. Lastly, I will impart my message."

Harrison confirmed for the Tulsa World that he wrote the post and that before he was held against his will in the Tulsa Center for Behavioral Health, he had intended to go to the mosque on New Year's Eve, but he would not say what message he would have delivered there.

The affidavit states that Harrison blew up his high school locker in California with a pipe bomb, but Harrison said that was done by his friends while he was driving his friends and others around when he was 16.

Harrison said he has no animosity toward Muslims or any religious or political group.

"I believe the majority of any religion or people are good," he said.

He said his issues are with what he believes are the government's attempts to stifle free speech.

Although that message could have been expressed in any number of ways, he said, "it was concerning to me to see the reaction" in the media to a Florida pastor's statement last summer that he was going to burn a Quran on Sept. 11.

Harrison said he believes that the burning - which did not occur - would have been protected as free speech.

He said he was concerned with how the incident played out, especially when the pastor, Terry Jones, received a phone call from high-level government officials asking him not to burn the Quran.

"That's when lightning struck," Harrison said. "I'm just a common person who sees something that's wrong and is trying to do something about it."

He also said that by posting the offensive statements, making his personal information public by sending it to the Islamic Peace Academy and posting it on Facebook and still not having any threats made against him by Muslims, he could dispel the perception by some that Islam is a violent religion.

"All this time that I've had my public information on display, there's been no threat," Harrison said. "If Islam can forgive me for (the video), I hope it will help."

Muneer Awad, executive director of the Oklahoma Chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, said he has seen the video sent by Harrison and knew that authorities were keeping an eye on him before he was charged. But he said he acknowledges Harrison's right to post such materials despite their offensive nature.

"We understand and believe it's important to respect the First Amendment rights of every person," Awad said. "The concern was the fact that there was a specific date that he was going to do a certain something."

Harrison is originally from California and moved from Arizona to Tulsa about a year and a half ago to help with his brother's new business, but he since has resigned, he said.

He does not claim any political affiliation and said that "I see hypocrisy on both sides of the aisle."

Harrison said he welcomes the opportunity to meet with Muslim leaders to explain his views.

Awad said such a meeting could be productive for both parties, adding, "The way to beat the expression of intolerance is through outreach."

Show me a video of thousands or even hundreds, I'll even except dozens, of Muslims gathered together and shouting "Stop killing Christians!" or "Stop discracing Islam by killing innocent people!" or "Stop the suicide bombing!". You can't. Because their are none.
Show me an Imam who says "We understand why you would be offended that thousands of innocent people were killed by those who worship as we do and you don't want our mosque here."
The atrocities that have been done in the name of your "religion" and "Allah" are many and growing. Yet, you speak out little against it. You have no action against it and you commonly associate yourselves with those guilty of perpetrating it. Your Mosques are openly supported by terrorist organizations such as Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood. Show me a video of a heroic act to save the life of an "infadel" by a Muslim. There are none. Your book teaches that it is ok to lie if it is for the greater good of Islam. Your religion of "peace" teaches that peace will only be obtained when the entire world is converted to Islam, yet your shiites and suunies kill each other daily and are at constant war.Your people cannot maintain peace among themselves. I met Jesse Harrison and heard his message. It is not a message of hate but a message of anger that if what you write in this blog, and others like it, is true, why do your people not act to stop it? We are shown videos of "Death to America" chants regularly and watch you burn our flag. Desecrate the things we hold dear and some of us live in fear of our OWN Government should we speak out against it. Jesse Harrison is a quiet, kind and calm man who simply wonders why you want to kill us all. Why is it acceptable for your people to commit the attrocities against us and you, who fail to speak out against it, concern yourselves with whether or not YOU are being treated "fairly" by the people you attack and kill. The Catholic religion committed many attrocities toward your people and its own throughout history. OUR ancestors fought back against the Church and separated into different protestant religions. Still holding the true and wonderful message of Jesus Christ dearest of all truths. The term "protestant" itself reminds us that as christians we "protest" against the rules, acts, and commissions of the catholic church. I think its time to the Muslim religion follow suit. If you are not a terrorist, stand up, assemble and shout for the attrocities to stop. If you don't. what are we to think?
