Sawan Masih Another Pakistani Christian Used By Hateful Islamophobic Bigots

Islamophobes love it when a story such as this comes out from Pakistan. They don't care about the Pakistani Christian involved nor do they care about the situation in Pakistan. They just want to use the situation to attack Islam and possibly get a few more donations from their hateful followers.

Of course all these riots and reprisal attacks are from a small minority - these acts are not Islamic. What fair minded people should be doing is lobbying to get discussions going so concerns can be passed on. It's reported that many of these blasphemy allegations are false and arise due to mundane disputes.

Yet these Islamophobes on the internet sitting at home in America simply hijack the situation to attack Islam and Muslims. These people need to stop with their insincerity and try to help get a discussion going to pass on concerns that many of these allegations could well be fabricated due to personal disputes.

A court in Pakistan has sentenced a Christian man to death for blasphemy, his lawyer said, over an incident that triggered a riot in the country's second-largest city.

Sawan Masih was convicted of insulting the prophet Muhammad during the course of a conversation with a Muslim friend in the Joseph Colony neighbourhood of Lahore in March last year.
More than 3,000 Muslims rioted, torching about 100 Christian homes in Joseph Colony, after the allegations against Masih emerged.

Naeem Shakir, one of Masih's lawyers, told AFP: "The judge has announced the death sentence for Sawan Masih. We will appeal the sentence in the Lahore high court."

Verdict and sentence were announced inside the jail where Masih was held, Shakir said. The country has had a de facto moratorium on civilian hangings since 2008. Only one person has been executed since then, a soldier convicted by court martial.

Pakistan has strict laws against defaming Islam, including the death penalty for insulting the prophet Muhammad, and rights campaigners say they are often used to settle personal disputes.
Masih has maintained his innocence and argued the real reason for the blasphemy allegation was a property dispute between him and his friend.

No one was killed in the riot in Joseph Colony last year but the incident highlighted the sensitivity of blasphemy in Pakistan. About 97% of the 180 million population are Muslim, and even unproven allegations can trigger a violent public response.

Earlier this month, an angry mob set fire to a Hindu temple in the southern city of Larkana over the alleged desecration of a copy of the Qur'an.

Invitation to Islam for Catholics

Jesus taught people to do the Will of God (according to Mark 3:35) in order to become his brothers, mothers or sisters. A Muslim means one who submits to the Will of God. Do you want to become a brother of Jesus? If yes, become a Muslim.

Muslims devoutly believe in Jesus, Moses and all other true prophets. Catholics, Protestants, and Muslims all claim to believe in Jesus. Why, then, are there such differences among his believers? The fact is that his teachings have been misinterpreted and misrepresented. Jesus himself did what a sincere Muslim would have done. He submitted to the will of God. He, further, prophesied the corning of Prophet Muhammad.

This short booklet offers Biblical teachings which disavow some beliefs which are wrongly attributed to Jesus Christ. It tells that there is no contradiction between Islam and true Christianity. True Christianity, in fact, leads to Islam.
