The West's War Against Black Women (White Supremacy)

As Muslims we are constantly looking over our shoulder. Always feeling somebody is out to get us. Feeling the pressures of discrimination in a society whose right wing regularly look at us askance for simply observing our faith.  

I see fair Non-Muslims taking up our fight and helping the Muslim communities in the West by speaking up FOR us. Are we, as Muslims, doing the same for other minority groups who are feeling the pinch of Western supremacy?

As Muslims we need to start to take an interest in other minority groups and their struggles. How many Muslims (apart from female Muslims who happen to be of African descent) know about the struggle of black women in America and Europe? Black women also feel a marginalized. Now, I know many black women are Muslims so I'd imagine they feel a bigger pinch than all of us.

The point here is, we as Muslims need to start doing more for other minority causes. And not only this, many black women are indeed Muslims, so we are actually helping our own in the process. As Muslims we have to be the sparks for justice. What are we doing to oppose White Supremacy?

Often people don't understand the pressures ethnic minorities in the West undergo. The pressure to conform. People talk about multiculturalism yet I simply see a pressure of assimilation to a mono-culture in the UK. Muslims are constantly being hammered by the right wing media (and even liberals) to assimilate - that order of assimilation is an order of conformation. Conforming to what the dominant culture in Britain (and the West in general) wants.

It's unfair right? Why should a Muslim woman have to forsake the hijab and modest dress just because the dominant culture says so? Why should a young Muslim man forsake his beard and robes just because the dominant culture in Britain says so?

What is the dominant culture about anyway? The dominant culture in the West is a culture of supremacy, white-secular supremacy. Anybody not jumping through hoops to conform is marginalised. Just ask any woman of  a dark hue.

For the follower of Islam, the dominant culture here in the West exerts pressures of secularism, that's the 'secular' in white-secular supremacy. For the black woman, the dominant culture exerts different pressures. The pressures are born out of racial discrimination. That's the 'white' in white-secular supremacy.

And for the Muslim Black lady...she gets both barrels of white-secular supremacy!

A way to help a cause out is just to assist in raising the awareness.

No other group in America has so had their identity socialized out of existence as have black women…. When black people are talked about the focus tends to be on black men; and when women are talked about the focus tends to be on white women. (hooks, bell:1981).

 

Here in the UK, the visibility of black women in representations of mainstream Black British culture is such that you might be forgiven for thinking we are an endangered species. The near erasure of Black British women from this terrain, which is in the main dominated by black men and white women, is rarely commented upon, despite its prominence.  What is actually going on here? Is this some manifestation of the quite frankly ridiculous Eldridge Cleaver quote above. Or is it something else?
Faced with the contradiction between the reality of the situation and a stereotype, this young man still succumbed to the latter, repeating the tired, black girls = ghetto, white girls = status, prestige, and success, narrative.This story is writ large within British popular culture, in which we can find a wealth of examples that illustrate perceptions of what differently racialised women represent.


Within the binary thinking that underpins intersecting oppressions, blue-eyed, blond, thin White women could not be considered beautiful without the Other—Black women with African features of dark skin, broad noses, full lips, and kinky hair. Race, gender, and sexuality converge on this issue of evaluating beauty… African-American women experience the pain of never being able to live up to prevailing standards of beauty used by White men, White women, Black men, and, most painfully, one another. Regardless of any individual woman’s subjective reality, this is the system of ideas that she encounters. Because controlling images are hegemonic and taken for granted, they become virtually impossible to escape (Collins, 2000: 89-90).

Islam the cure for white supremacists around the world

White supremacy in Europe and a hatred of Muslims are quite indistinguishable at times. I'd imagine the same applies in North America too. In going through some of Dr Umar Johnson's book concerning the war against black boys in the American schooling systmer I came across a shocking quote attributed to America's 16th president, Abraham Lincoln. Abraham Lincoln appears to have been suffering the disease of white supremacy:

I am not, nor ever have been in favour of bringing about in any way the social and political equality of the white and black races. I am not nor ever have been in favour of making voters or jurors of Negroes, nor qualifying them to hold office, nor to intermarry with white people. And I will say in addition to this that there is a physical difference between the white and black races, which I believe will ever forbid he two races from living together on terms of social and political equality.

...And inasmuch as they cannot so live, while they do remain together, there must be the position of superior and inferior, and I, as much as any other man, am in favour of having the superior position assigned to the white race. Clearly Abraham Lincoln was suffering from a disease called white supremacy. This disease can be cured by Islam. Islam does not condone racism at all. In fact, the real criteria for judgement (in Islam) is that of conduct, NOT skin colour – this is learned through the holy Quran:

O mankind! Lo! We have created you from male and female, and have made you nations and tribes that ye may know one another. Lo! the noblest of you, in the sight of Allah, is the best in conduct. Lo! Allah is Knower, Aware. [Pikthal’s English translation of the meanings of Quran, 49:13]

People, who support the racist comments attributed to Abraham Lincoln, can be helped away from their disease of white supremacy (black inferiority) by looking at the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (p) in his Farewell Pilgrimage sermon in which we find a resounding statement of equalizing all races:

In his famous Farewell Pilgrimage sermon, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) declared: "O people! You are all to Adam and Adam was made of dust. No Arab is to be preferred over a non-Arab except by virtue of his piety." In another hadith, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah does not look at your images or your colors but He looks at your hearts (intentions) and your deeds. Creatures are the dependants of Allah and the closest among them to Allah are indeed the most useful to His dependants."

Abraham Lincoln and those who espoused anti-black views must have been taken in by the Euro-centric propaganda. After all, these people were living in societies where Prophet Jesus (p), a Middle Easterner, was being depicted with European features (he still is to this day!). These victims of propaganda would do well to learn that there were black Prophets (in fact Prophets of every skin colour) as Allah (God) sent warners to every nation. 

Dr. Muzammil Siddiqi writes:

Allah has mentioned in the Qur’an that He sent Messengers and guides among all people. Allah Almighty says: “ And verily We have raised in every nation a messenger, (proclaiming): Serve Allah and shun false gods. Then some of them (there were) whom Allah guided, and some of them (there were) upon whom error had just hold. Do but travel in the land and see the nature of the consequence for the deniers!.” (An-Nahl: 36) He Almighty also says, “There was not any community except a Warner who lived among them.” (Fatir :24).

In his Musnad, Imam Ahmad Ibn Hanbal has stated that Allah sent 124, 000 Prophets, and from among them 315 were Messengers.

Abraham Lincoln had a problem with inter-racial marriage between the black and white races. However Prophet Muhammad, over 1000 years before Lincoln, had no problem with inter-reacial marriages between Africans and Arabs. No problem at all:

Black Americans and White Supremacist Islamophobes

An important warning to Nigerian and other African Christians in the UK and US - White Supremacists exist amongst  those who bash Muslims

Black Christians should be very wary of people who bash Muslims. A lot of these Islamophobes (people who hate Islam) bash Muslims on the internet and beyond also have a problem with black people too - they sound like white supremacists. Read these comments on an anti-Muslim hate site:

The Arab and African hordes in the UK are tolerated. They are not able to assimilate into any western society. They aliens and belong in their own nations. Not ours.

Same here. I see it as a racial attack on our people. I also see Africans and Arabs for what they actually are: racial aliens in western nations...We will have no peace until they are driven out of our homelands.
And I will say what Pamela is far too polite to say, you Arab and Africans are deliberately seeking out WHITE girls to sexually abuse. Don't even ask me what I would do to you aliens in our lands if I were in a position of authority to do something about it. Trust me, you bastards would be leaving our lands very quickly.

We loathe your presence in our nations and will eventually do something about it. The gall of you Arab freaks will at some point be punished severely by white men....

They dont seem to understand that our government invited them into our countries. NOT THE NATIVE PEOPLE. Our wishes were never consulted!

It really makes me sick to see any Islamophobe as Islamophobia is utter ignorance and disobedience of the natural disposition but a black person joining the bandwagon to bash Muslims not only exhibits those unwanted characteristics but also smacks of complete betrayal to the struggles of their ancestors.

I urge Black Christians to be wary of Islamophobes. Think about it, not only are there white supremacists amongst those who bash Muslims but let's be honest; IF it was still legal in the US to mistreat black people then I bet many, many of these Islamophobes who look to demonize Muslims and Islam would indeed be doing the SAME thing to black people. Exactly the same thing.

Don't ever think joining an Islamophobic group makes you accepted by the West.

Cuban Muslim Roots in Sierra Leone?

A group of Cuban villagers ( Ganga-Longoba of Perico) traced their roots to a small village in Sierra Leone. It's great news that these Cuban villagers have traced their roots to their ancestors' homeland but the question now is, were these ancestors in Sierra Leone Muslims? This question also extends to all the Cubans of African descent, they need to look into whether their ancestors were Muslims.

The Ganga in Cuba originating from the area of Africa which is now Sierra Leone would suggest that other Cubans came from this region in Africa too. It gets more interesting as the majority of people in Sierra Leone are indeed Muslims, thus suggesting many of the Cubans of Sierra Leone could have Muslim ancestry:

But until recently this Afro-Cuban community knew little of the origin of the songs, or of their own ancestors.

Now, thanks to the work of an Australian academic, Cuba's Ganga believe their roots lie in a remote village in Sierra Leone from where it is thought their relatives were sold into slavery more than 170 years ago.

"When I first filmed the Ganga-Longoba, I believed their ceremonies were a mixture of many different ethnic groups," says historian Emma Christopher, of Sydney University.

"I had no idea that a large number of Ganga songs would come from just one village. I think that's extremely unusual," she says.

Extremist Christians Trying to Make Black People Hate Islam

The mischievous folk in the West have been trying to set Black men and Black women against each other, and now the extremist Christians in the West are trying to turn Black people against Islam through false propaganda and lies:

American Christians are seeing many African-American brothers and sisters leaving Christianity for Islam. What is the response of these Christians? To lie and attempt to present Prophet Muhammad (p) as racist!

From Prophet Muhammad we realise racism is 'ignorance'.

Muslims believe there were black Prophets (in fact Prophets of every skin colour) as Allah (God) sent warners to every nation.

Prophet Muhammad had many black friends (who are loved in Islam), approved marriages between Black and Arab, the first muezzin (caller to prayer) was indeed a black man (Bilal) and the Prophet's nurse was Abyssinian (Umm Aymen)

Did Paul have any such relationships with black people? Did Mark, Matthew, Luke and John ever meet a black person never mind befriend and love them (like Prophet Muhammad did)?

From the New Testament, The Ethiopian eunuch seems to be the first black person to become a Christian - at the hands of Philip [Acts 8:26-40]. There are very few details about this man. In fact Philip disappears after the Ethiopian's baptism.

For me, this is another sign that Prophet Muhammad (p) is indeed the Last Messenger of God. Surely the last Messenger of God would have had such fine teachings concerning race and relations with black people especially since they are indeed generally the most victimised when it comes to race in the history of mankind.

Narrated 'Abdullah:
The Prophet said, "I saw (in a dream) a black woman with unkempt hair going out of Medina and settling at Mahai'a, i.e., Al-Juhfa. I interpreted that as a symbol of epidemic of Medina being transferred to that place (Al-Juhfa)."

The Assyrian Christian LIES and claims Muhammad said 'if you have a dream of a black woman that is a sign of an epidemic'!

The Christian must have thought African-Americans are stupid or something; I mean there's no way somebody balanced is going to come away believing these desperate Christians after reading about Prophet Muhammad (p) and the hadith above. It's obvious the hadith above is related to that SPECIFIC hadith and Prophet Muhammad did not say 'if you see a black woman in your dream then you will have an epidemic' - this was a bare-faced lie by the Christian missionary who goes by the names, Sam Shamoun and Triple B. I'd like to add another name to his list, 'liar'

The Christian even misuses Qadi Iyad's Ash-Shifa and attempts to make a Muslim scholar appear racist. Amazingly, we have already refuted this deception before, I guess the /Christian in question had not seen our article or simply chose to ignore it to further his deceptive agrenda.

There is a deceptive ploy on the internet which suggests Islam is racist against black people.

Those who propagate such a claim use the two narrations in Ash-Shifa of Qadi Iyad which highlights the opinion of Ahmad ibn Abi Sulayman concerning those who call the Prophet Muhammad (p) black. Ahmad ibn Abi Sulayman was of the opinion whoever does so should be put to death [1]

Sadly, these rabble rousers fail to mention this was the opinion of Ahmad ibn Abi Sulayman and NOT of the Prophet (p).

Their deception is worse still

However, their deception gets worse as the context of the statement is omitted (though it is in the SAME segment of the book) as this statement would have been made within the back-drop of ANYBODY who alters the description of the Prophet being considered a disbeliever and even liable to execution:

Habib ibn ar-Rabi’ said that it is disbelief to alter his description and its details. The one who does that openly is an unbeliever. He is asked to repent. The one who conceals it is a heretic and is killed without being asked to repent. [2]

So we see the problem was not racism but the problem could have been that of altering the description of the Prophet.

To highlight their deception further we can look at the quote they use:

Ahmad ibn Abi Sulayman, Sahnun's companion, said that whoever says that the Prophet was black is killed. The Prophet was not black [1]

However, they do not quote the paragraph immediately below which further shows the issue was not racism but the issue being, stating falsehoods which constitute denial:

Abu ‘Uthman al Haddad said something similar and said that if someone said that the Prophet died before his beard began to grow or that he was in Tahart (Morocco) and not Tihama, he is killed because this constitutes denial. [2]

Let’s be realistic

During such a time there may have been a racist undercurrent amongst the ignorant/hypocrites who used this as a slur (i.e. calling people “black”), thus Ahmad ibn Abi Sulayman would have recognised the INTENT was to disparage the Prophet (p) hence his calling for the death of such folk. It is not racist on the part of Ahmad ibn Abi Sulayman and it certainly has NO bearing upon Islam!

Sadly, the rabble rousers are not willing to scratch the surface or attempt to be intellectually honest – they work agendas to mud sling at Muslims and Islam.

I feel this attack against Islam is simply a devious design to stem the conversion to Islam amongst our brothers and sisters in African communities as Islam has resonated well amongst Afro-Caribbean communities in the West (and beyond) and many are leaving Christianity for the Truth of Islam.

Obviously Islam is against racism

When his Arab Companion Abu Dharr called Bilal 'son of the black woman', the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) got angry and told him: 'You are a man who has ignorance in him.' Abu Dharr felt such a great remorse that he put his cheek on the ground and asked Bilal to tread on his other cheek if he’d like to. [5]

Okay From African Word Wokay - Hamza Yusuf

'Okay' is a word which originates from Africa according to the scholar, Sheikh Hamza Yusuf.

When the slaves came over from West Africa they used the word 'wokay' as a positive response to the slave masters' orders. This word was changed to okay and now it's recognised all over the world. Little did we know of the African origin of the word!
