Statistics: Ethnic Minorities in Bradford District and White Majority

Marie Macey presents some interesting statistics (from the year 2001) on the ethnic make up of  the Bradford District. Contrary to what some white nationalists may think or say, Bradford is still EASILY majority WHITE.

In the District of Bradford (so the city and surrounding areas) the majority ethnic composition is WHITE at nearly 80% (78.3%).

People of a Pakistani background are LESS THAN 15%.

So if you hear some nonsense about Pakistanis taking over the Bradford District, recognise it to be misinformation.

Admittedly, the percentage of people of a Pakistani origin are greater in the inner city area but you must remember the Pakistani community in Bradford City are concentrated in a narrow band of the city.

The total population of the District of Bradford is 467,000, comprising 78.3 percent 'white' and 20.7 percent visible minorities. The former includes people whose origins are in Belorussia, Estonia, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland, and there are also significant numbers of Eastern European asylum seekers/refugees. The latter includes people whose origins are in Africa and the Caribbean (0.9 percent), Bangladesh (1.1 percent), India (2.7 percent) and Pakistan (14.5 percent). There is also a 'mixed' category (1.5 percent). By far the  largest minority ethnic group, then, is of Pakistani origin (80,000), approximately 60,000 of whom are from the Mirpur region of (Azad) Kashmir. Additionally, this community has a far higher presence in Bradford than its numbers suggest: first, because statistics refer to the District as a whole - which includes extensive rural areas whose towns and villages are almost entirely mono-cultural - whilst most ethnic minorities live in inner-city Bradford, which covers only five or six miles; second because Pakistani Muslims are concentrated in a narrow band of the city,...

Christian apologetics to Muslims, more women in Hell Hadith

Christian apologetics organisations are doing a disservice by presenting their flocks with the standard Christian apologetics around Hadith mentioning the majority of the dwellers of Hell would be women.

Apart from not telling their flocks that there's another Hadith showing that women would outnumber men in Paradise, the Christian apologetics organisations misuse and misunderstand the Hadith they use.

At the end of the day, they pass on intellectual dishonesty - knowingly or unknowingly.

Here we see Reverend Steven Martins of EAM presenting the Hadith - it appears Reverend Steven Martins is a victim of intellectual dishonesty at the hands of those who taught him Christian apologetics in relation to Muslims.

Edward Bunker was Mr Blue in the Tarantino movie Reservoir Dogs. I'm currently reading his biography and came across this quote in which Edward Bunker speaks well of Muslims and claims John Calvin would have approved of the Muslim moral code.

Rebuking Rev. Steven Martins of Evangelium & Apologia Ministries - 'Western Values'

The motif of the European knight/gentleman rescuing the oppressed oriental maiden from her harem prison remains a well-watered one - Dr Jonathan AC Brown

Christian apologists often present superficial arguments and make statements of a superficial nature. Reverend Steven Richard Martins is a Christian apologist for an organisation based in Canada.

This superficial and irresponsible statement-making fuels Islamophobia. Christian apologists with their regurgitated superficial apologetics spiels about Islam simply goes towards fuelling Islamophobia. Is that really what Christian apologists are being trained to do - dehumanize and insult Muslims?

Rather than talking about the general problem of ill-treatment across the world, Steven Martins speaks about 'horror stories' coming out of Muslim countries while ignoring 'horror stories' coming out of Western countries such as America (i.e. the horrific rape stats). Let's be clear, there is ill-treatment of women around the world including my country, the UK. It's not limited to Muslim countries or as Steven Martins intimates non-Western countries/ideals.

Steven Martins, through his statements, appears to be a Western supremacist. The interesting thing here is, there are many Eastern Christians out there, does Steven think these people are lacking when it comes to treating women well?

On top of this, what about Western ideals? They all surely are not Biblical. I mean, no serious Christian would claim the allowance of homosexual marriage is Biblical. Or the rampant Western sexualisation of women is Biblical.

So why even champion the West? I assume Canada's similar to Britain where women are sexualized and stripped of their clothing to promote products such as cars, cosmetics and vices like gambling.

I get the impression Steven is new to apologetics but surely he knows appearing as a Western supremacist as well as condescending and intellectually dishonest/lazy would not reflect well on Evangelium & Apologia Ministries? Surely he knows that many Chinese, Arab, and other Christians in the East would feel concerned at his comments?

Rev. Steven Martins is linked to a lady called Cindy Martins. I don't know if they are related or married or simply just colleagues. However, a point of interest here is Cindy Martins holds an apologetics certificate from the Ravi Zacharias International Ministries Academy.

I'm not making any claims here - I don't know of Cindy Martin's work but Steven Martin's work, (from the little I've seen of it) is superficial and unimpressive. It will be prudent just to know that Dr Nabeel Qureshi is part of this organisation (RZIM) and Dr Nabeel has proven himself, time and time again to be superficial and lacking in intellectual honesty, see the Nabeel Qureshi section.

In the Shariah, offenses were divided into those against God and those against man. Crimes against God violated His Hudud, or 'boundaries', and were offenses whose punishments were specified by the Quran and, in some cases, the Hadiths, such as the punishment of certain kinds of theft by amputating a hand, punishing adultery by stoning and sexual slander by lashing. Because these offenses were affronts against a merciful God, the evidentiary standards were often impossibly high (such as the four witnesses to sexual penetration required to prove adultery). Moreover, the Prophet ordered Muslim judges to 'ward off the Hudud [punishments] by ambiguities.' The severe Hudud punishments were meant to convey the gravity of those offenses against God and to deter, not to be carried out. If a thief refused to confess, or if a confessed adulterer retracted his confession, the Hudud punishments would be waived.

This did not entail that the culprit escaped justice. Circumstantial evidence, such as a witness to the theft or finding the stolen good in the thief's possession, could lead the judge to find him guilty of wrongful appropriation (ghasb). The wronged party could reclaim their possession or receive compensation for its value plus damages entailed. This coexistence of two legal wrongs identical in fact but subject to two very different standards of evidence and punishment is analogous to the relationship between the crime of theft and the tort of conversion in common law. While the first requires evidence of guilt beyond a reasonable doubt and can be punished with prison, the second only needs a preponderance of evidence and carries monetary damages. The inequalities of Islamophobia, the lack of job prospects, qualifications and poor housing all contribute to Muslim gangs and criminal activity in the UK.

So rather than  people using British Muslim crime stats to bash Muslims, why do they not actually look into some of the reasons why British Muslims are falling prey to criminal subcultures in the UK and mainland Europe...

Within criminological research, youth subcultures have been a focus of attention for many years. Attention has been placed upon young people, especially young men, due to their propensity to engage in the types of illegal or deviant activities that come to the attention of law enforcement authorities. According to Youn (1999, p.89), subcultures are 'jointly elaborated solutions to collectively experienced problems'. According to the Collins Dictionary of Sociology (Jary and Jary 1991, p. 638), a subculture is 'any system of beliefs, values and norms which is shared and actively participated in by an appreciable minority of people within a particular culture. The relationship of the subculture to the so-called dominant culture has been described as one of subordination and relative powerlessness.' Thus, structural inequalities of race, gender, Islamophobia and so forth impact upon individuals' everyday lives and so, to try and tackle the discrimination and marginalisation that they experience, individuals may seek out subcultural solutions.

...Muslim men, particularly South Asian men, have been assimilated into British culture. Elsewhere, a reporter in The Sunday Times claimed that the young men who are the genus most susceptible to Islamic extremism in this country are second-generation British Pakistanis, because of a lack of a sense of identity (Yaseer 2005). However, debates around assimilation appear to miss out key issues that arise when considering British Muslim identities and male Muslim youth subcultures. First, Muslims constitute the most socially and economically deprived faith group in the UK. Statistics show that Muslims are the most likely faith group to experience poor housing conditions, and that 42 percent of Muslim children live in overcrowded accommodation, compared to 12 percent for the general population; 12 percent live in households with no central heating, compared to 6 percent for all dependent children; and 35 percent are growing up in households where there are no adults in employment, compared with 17 percent for all dependent children (Choudhury 2004, p. 14). Furthermore, almost one third of Muslims of working age have no qualifications, the highest proportion for any faith group, and 17.5 percent of young Muslim people between the ages of 16 and 24 are unemployed compared to 7.9 percent of Christians and 7.4 percent of Hindus (Choudhury 2004, p. 16).

False Prophecy by Paul 1 Thessalonians 4:17

Here's some material from Dr Shabir Ally and Bassam Zawadi in which they posit Paul made a false prophecy in 1 Thessalonians chapter 4.

What I'd like Christians to do is to ponder upon the points made by Dr Shabir Ally and Bassam Zawadi. At the end of the day, if Paul is making false prophecies then how can the average Christian deem him to be reliable?

Look into this and look into Islam. The Islamic view of Jesus (p) makes more sense than the Trinitarian view of Jesus p.

Paul made a false prophecy about the coming of Jesus during his lifetime...

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

    ¹³Brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about those who fall asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope. ¹⁴We believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. ¹⁵According to the Lord's own word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. ¹⁶For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. ¹⁷After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. ¹⁸Therefore encourage each other with these words.

Lets look at some of the commentaries regarding this passage...

"Prevent" means "having an advantage over." Those who live until the Lord comes won't have any advantage over those who died earlier.

a. Paul emphasized the soon return of Jesus, and the Thessalonians believed it earnestly; this was part of the reason that they were the kind of church that Paul would compliment so highly. But after he had left, they wondered about those Christians who died before Jesus' return - did they miss out on that great event? Would they miss the victory and blessing of Jesus' coming?

b. The Thessalonians were afraid that the dead in Christ would miss out, but Paul assures them that those gone on before them won't feel cheated at not being on earth when Jesus comes back to this earth, because the dead in Christ will gain first benefit

a. Those alive and remaining until this coming of Jesus are caught up to meet Jesus in the air, together with the dead in Jesus who have already risen

Christians may tend to argue back and quote...

Matthew 24:42

"Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.

to show that Christians never knew about when Jesus was coming and therefore should always be expecting it. However, when we look at the way Paul is talking about the coming of Jesus we see that he is confident and sure that Jesus would be coming during his lifetime. He didn't say 'IF Jesus comes now then...". He was talking confidently and emphasized that Jesus was coming for sure during his lifetime in that passage. Obviously he was wrong. Paul wrote something wrong and wrote a failed prophecy. According to Christians all scripture is inspired (2Timothy 3:16). How could the Holy Spirit who was inspiring Paul, inspire Paul to write a false prophecy like that?

Explanation: Sun Sets in Murky Water Hadith (Sunan Abu Dawud, Musnad Ahmad)

Waqar Akbar Cheema has an analysis of the narrations and related narrations.

What we see from Waqar Cheema's analysis is that the Hadiths in which the words “it sets in a spring of warm/murky water” appear are not believed to be attributed to Prophet Muhammad (p). Thus, Muslims do not consider them to be reliable.

Now somebody may well be thinking, how it can be dismissed as not being from Prophet Muhammad p? It's simple, if you look at the analysis you will see there are numerous Hadiths with different chains of narrators (after the first three links) which all report the SAME saying of Abu Darr but they do not include the words “it sets in a spring of warm/murky water.”

So clearly both versions cannot be right.

The versions containing “it sets in a spring of warm/murky water” are based on the SAME chain of narration (see the fourth person in the chain) while the versions not containing “it sets in a spring of warm/murky water” are of 5 different chains (5 different people at the 4th link) - thus overwhelming numerical evidence shows that the Hadith containing “it sets in a spring of warm/murky water” cannot be attributed to Prophet Muhammad p. Basically it's a case of 1 person reported it with the words “it sets in a spring of warm/murky water” compared to 5 who did not report those words.

Not only this, the chain in which the words “it sets in a spring of warm/murky water” are included contains Sufyan bin Husain who was considered as a person who made mistakes in his narrations as seen in Waqar Cheema's analysis:

Muhammad ibn Sa’d said about him: “He was reliable (but) he made many mistakes in his narrations.” (Tabaqat al-Kubra, Dar al-Kotob al-Ilmiyya, Beirut, 1990, vol.7 p.227 No. 3417)

Obviously quality and quantity would mean that the Muslim does not accept this narration but rather accepts the more numerous and reliable Hadiths which are those that do NOT contain the words “it sets in a spring of warm/murky water”

There's even a theory how the words “it sets in a spring of warm/murky water” got into the Hadith by mistake - see Cheema's analysis

Cheema points out the Hadith in question is Anomolous and Defective and supplies the definitions which impugn the reliability of such hadiths:

“… the anomalous hadith is the one which a reliable transmitter relates and which is in conflict with what other people relate.” (An Introduction to the Science of Hadith, Translated by Dr. Eerik Dickinson, Garnet Publishing Ltd. Berkshire 2006 p.57)

 “A defective hadith is one in which a defect impugning its soundness is detected, although it outwardly appears to be free of the defect. That may apply to an isnad made up of reliable transmitters which outwardly seems to fulfill the conditions of soundness. Someone being alone in transmitting the hadith as well as others contradicting him aid in catching the defect.” (An Introduction to the Science of Hadith, p.67)

And when a report or a part of it becomes “shaadh” it ceases to be a sahih (sound) report. For this the definition of a “Sahih hadith” will help.

Hafiz Ibn Salah writes;

“The sahih (sound) hadith is a “supported” hadith (al-hadith al-musnad), the isnad of which coheres continuously through the transmission of one upright and accurate person from another up to its point of termination. The sound hadith can be neither anomalous (shaadh) nor defective (mu’allal),” (An Introduction to the Science of Hadith, p.5)

So merely being “sahih al-isnaad” is not enough for the report itself to be sahih.

Conclusion

If you come across aChristian missionary or any other Anti-Islam zealot quoting any Hadith saying the sun “sets in a spring of warm/murky water” then just dismiss it. Kindly let that person know that the Hadith is unreliable and there are numerous Hadith which contradict that and these are the more reliable Hadith. Let the person know, the Hadith he/she is citing cannot be attributed to the Prophet - due to intellectual honesty.

Yazid al-Taymi)- Yazid al-Taymi- Abu Dharr said: I was sitting behind the Apostle of Allah who was riding a donkey while the sun was setting. He asked: Do you know where this sets? I replied: Allah and his Apostle know best. He said: It sets in a spring of warm water. (Sunan Abu Dawud, Hadith 3991)

In Musnad Ahmad these words are part of a longer narration reported through same chain of narrators;

Abu Dharr narrated, “Once I was with the Prophet riding a donkey on which there was a saddle or a (piece of) velvet. That was at sunset. He said to me, ‘O Abu Dharr, do you know where this (sun) sets?’ I said, ‘Allah and His Messenger know better.’ He said, ‘It sets in a spring of murky water, (then) it goes and prostrates before its Lord, the Exalted in Might and the Ever-Majestic, under the Throne. And when it is time to go out, Allah allows it to go out and thus it rises. But, when He wants to make it rise where it sets, He locks it up. The sun will then say, “O my Lord, I have a long distance to run.” Allah will say, “Rise where you have set.” That (will take place) when no (disbelieving) soul will get any good by believing then.’” (Musnad Ahmad, Hadith 21459 al-Risala ed.)

This narration is quite similar to the narration found in many hadith works including Sahih Bukhari, Sahih Muslim etc. except the words “It sets in a spring of warm water.”
