As Muslims we need to get the word out there that the reported actions of Al Shabab extremists are indeed unislamic. If we fail to do so there will be more ignorant crimes such as the killing of 28 non-Muslims in a bus hijack as well as more hatred of Muslims (Islamophobia) around the world.

While the right wing revel in the murders of 28 non-Muslims in Kenya by reportedly Al Shabab militants the informed Muslim is condemning the murderers and telling folk that these actions are totally unislamic.

 

While the right wing misuse this horrific terrorist act to hate-monger against Muslims informed Muslims are denouncing the attack, considering the families of those lost ones as well as getting the word out that Islam does not allow such terrorism in order to stop this type of ignorant crime taking place in the future.

Al Shabab militants have hijacked a bus in Kenya, with gunmen singling out 28 non-Muslims and shooting them dead, according to police.

One officer said the passengers, who were travelling to Nairobi, were "brutally executed" by the Islamic extremists. His colleague claimed that the 60 people on board were told to disembark, and then sorted into two groups based on the faith they professed.
The attack took place in Mandera, a town on the border between Kenya and Somalia. An estimated 100 militants were involved.

According to a regional police chief, the extremists were planning to drive the non-Muslims into Somalia, but the bus became stuck.Al Shabab, a well-known terror organisation, was also responsible for the attack on the Westgate shopping mall in Nairobi, which left 67 people dead. The group, which has been fighting to topple Somalia's government, said last September's massacre was in retaliation to the continued presence of Kenyan troops in the warring country

Sheikh Abdal Hakim Murad's 10 second comment destroy the Islamophobes' false narrative of 'Islam preaches terrorism'. He states, according to Sharia, terrorism is classified as Hiraba (Hirabah) which is punishable by death. Thus we learn, Sharia is against terrorism.



What is Hirabah?

The term hirabah refers to public terrorism in a war against society and civilization.  In legal terminology it is defined as “spreading mischief in the land,” but its precise meaning, as defined by Professor Khalid Abou el Fadl, is “killing by stealth and targeting a defenseless victim in a way intended to cause terror in society.”  This is the Islamic definition of terrorism.  It is the very opposite of jihad.

 

The term hirabah comes from the root hariba, a verb that means to become angry and enraged.  By derivation the nown harb (pl. hurub) means variously “war” and “enemy.”

Here's Sheikh Abdal Hakim Murad informing us that terrorist acts such as those carried out on the World Trade Center are actually seen as a crime punishable by death according to Sharia. He distinguishes between Jihad and terrorism - the two are not the same thing. The Sheikh highlights another important point to take away; terrorism does not have its origins in Islam, it's something that was borne from the French revolution and 19th century anarchist movements as well as pointing out that terrorism is an expression of westernization!

Response to "Muslima Teen Deemed ‘too Western’ teenager beaten by family"

The right wing are using the story of a teenage girl in Italy who was beaten up by her family for being 'too Western' as a stick to attack Muslims on a whole.

Firstly, they say the teenager was a 'Muslima' (female Muslim) despite the article not mentioning her religion. The right wing simply presume the family are Muslims as it mentions her Moroccan father. Would the right wing like it if American teens who crazily shoot up their classmates were reported as 'Christian' around the world simply assumed fromtheir American nationality? Of course not, so why do it to Moroccans or folk from other Muslim countries?

Secondly, the right wing juxtapose this news story with honor killings. We have already seen honor killings are not part of Islam (see below)

Thirdly, I can see that generally actions of violence seem to be a substitute for lazy parenting. Surely, if you want your child to grow up with the values of Islam then it's better to invest time, money and energy into seeing your child has an Islamic upbringing where he/she is nurtured and educated rather than being lazy and just threatening or using violence whilst the child has never received that nurturing. Mosques around /Europe really need to employ imams who can advise Muslim parents on raising children with Islamic values as well as connecting Muslim males and females to the mosque from an early age.

Pamela Geller entitles a video, 'Islamic Honor Killings in the West'. This is a contradiction of terms as Islamic Law opposes honor killings.

Pamela Geller wrongly claims that honor killings is a practice under Islamic Law (Sharia). This is a blatant falsehood. In the video we see Dr Bilal Phillips teach that Honor Killings is not allowed according to Islamic Law - in fact he teaches that the Sharia (Islamic Law) sees honor killing as MURDER which is punishable by execution.

It's interesting to notice how Muslim scholars such as Dr Shabir Ally, Hamza Yusuf and Dr Bilal Phillips all disagree with the wild assertions of Pamela Geller concerning the Islamic view on honor killings. Sadly, people like Pamela Geller continue to spread their ignorance and prejudice and the scholarly voices are being drowned out.

Aside from the misinformation Pam Geller presents about Islam's view on honor killings the other worrying aspect of her work is her misappropriating of pictures of the victims of honor killings. Islamophobes such as Geller will trample on the misery and the hurt of others just to pursue their agenda of attacking Islam and demonizing Muslims. Truthful and sincere people don't do this.

Another point that came out of the video is that honour killings, as mentioned by Hamza Yusuf, have a long history and indeed are not simply peculiar to Muslims. Hamza Yusuf menions that it has taken place in Arab Christian communities as well as Mexico. Of course, honor killings are not limited to these communities - all communities have experienced honor killings be they Sikh, Hindu, Jewish, Atheist, Buddhist etc.. Hamza Yusuf mentioned the figure of 20 million abortions having been conducted in America, isn't this at least in some instances a form of honor killing?

And finally, Dr Shabir Ally mentions those who perpetrate honor killings are not following the Quran, he then mentions that he can find something that can be described as honor killing in the Bible. I Wonder if Pamela Geller would call Dr Shabir Ally and ask him for the Bible references and then make a video about Christianity and Honor killing entitled 'Christian Biblical Honor Killngs'? Guess she won't. Guess the donations and other support she receives would diminish quite considerably if she did. That's the nature of the business of ISLAMOPHOBIA!

Christian Militancy: Ted Shoebat and Walid Shoebat

Theodore Shoebat will certainly have got a few pulses racing amongst the Christian evangelical community with his views on Christian militancy in the Bible.

Of course, the majority of Christians will denounce Theodore's exegesis of the Bible. The interesting thing here is, some of these Christians would also be amongst the Islamophobic mass which is trying to convince everybody that the extremist views of terrorists who attacked the World Trade Center are representational of Islam.

The hypocrisy is clear for all to see!

Here, Theodore Shoebat offers extreme interpretations of his Bible yet the Christian masses will denounce him as non-representational of Christianity, all the while a group of Islamophobes within the Christian community are claiming the extremist views of terrorists are representative of Islam and all Muslims.

No, it doesn't work like that. You have to be consistent.

Terrorist groups are not representative of Islam just like Theodore Shoebat and Walid Shoebat are not representative of Christianity. When people choose to use their faith as a vehicle to manifest their inner demons, hatred and lust for bloodshed then they are not operating within the confines of their faith. Simple.

Muslims should be balanced


We as Muslims should be mindful of Islamophobia but always maintain fairness and distinguish between the moderate Christians and the extremists. NOT all Christians want to butcher us – in fact MOST would OPPOSE Walid Shoebat’s views. Walid’s views are certainly not compatible with the teachings of Muhammad or Jesus (pbut).

Quite where this radical Christian acquired such views is beyond us. I sensed Walid is cut off from a path constructive path and has fallen onto a destructive path. I invite Walid Shoebat to Islam so he can adopt a constructive path in which he is at peace with his Creator.

Adherence to Islamic teachings helps!

First thing's first - if all parties involved acted according to Islam this would not even be a controversy. The men would have been lowering their gaze and the woman would have been dressed more modestly. There would be no viral video. No fuss.

Video portrays American and Latino badly

Secondly, the video puts African and Latino American men in a bad light as it disproportionately features them harassing the woman. There's a reason why this has happened. Much of the harassment from white men was edited out!

Here's the admission, by the makers of the video, that incidents of harassment involved people of all backgrounds and there was a number of white guys involved too (edited out):

The video is a collaboration between Hollaback, an anti-street harassment organization, and the marketing agency Rob Bliss Creative. At the end they claim the woman experienced 100-plus incidents of harassment “involving people of all backgrounds.” Since that obviously doesn’t show up in the video, Bliss addressed it in a post. He wrote, “We got a fair amount of white guys, but for whatever reason, a lot of what they said was in passing, or off camera,” or was ruined by a siren or other noise. The final product, he writes, “is not a perfect representation of everything that happened.” [Hanna Rosin, Salte.com]

The right wing are using it to have a dig at Latino and African American men. Here's a comment from a right wing website:

So you can make a video about the harassment of women, just don’t talk about black men. You can condemn rape culture, as long as you limit it to white Ivy League men and don’t talk about hip hop or rape rates in minority communities. There are subjects that feminists place off limits because they aren’t there for women’s causes, their true allegiance is to the larger agenda of the left.

I'm not too sure what rape culture has to do with this. No rape took place. As for Hip Hop, I assume the right wing website is referring to the same Hip Hop and Rap that white owned corporations misappropriate and promote ahead of independent Rap and Hip Hop (such as Low Key and Akala which tends to have a more positive and moral message than the stuff the right wing consider Hip Hop). So really, if people want to start talking about the influence of negative Hip Hop on young ethnic men then why not try to speak to the corporations who own such material? Also, how about Pop music? Pop music has problems of degrading and sexualising women too!

Of course walking in areas where groups of guys are hanging out is going to get more attention and if they don't have jobs it means they have more time to hang out and get involved in these things. I'd imagine that the employment rates amongst African American and Latino men are lower than that of white men. Perhaps that has something to do with this too?

Racism and prejudice of this type will not get you far.

Let's not be superficial as superficial is closer to racism. Be careful, especially you extreme right wingers who are fantasising over American bombs being dropped on Muslim countries, deporting Mexicans and slamming a few more Africa Americans in prison.

It's not a problem of one  race. It's a problem of the human race. The right wing need to recognise this. The same applies to the problem of street harassment of women - men of all races are guilty.

Sexism and Objectification of Women in Pop

 

We've all seen the sexual objectification in Western popular culture yet there has been relatively little outcry against it. The right wing media seem to pay more attention to immigrants and halal meat rather than trying to stamp out this social ill within popular culture.

The Muslims have a solution for the disease of sexual objectification of women here in the West. The solution is Islam. Sara Cox has spoken out against one artist. I think people in pop music could benefit from learning about Islam's teachings of respect for the woman.

Sara Cox, the former BBC Radio 1 DJ, has criticised the station for playing music with sexist lyrics by rapper Pitbull.

The presenter, who now works on BBC Radio 2, said she felt upset by the station playing songs by the best-selling artist, whose lyrics have faced accusations of misogyny and objectifying women.
Cox told the Radio Times: “Someone like Pitbull on Radio 1 makes my soul weep with the way he sings about women. I just couldn’t bear playing that.”

..For all his commercial success, the depiction of women in some of his songs, as well as the accompanying music videos, has prompted controversy.

One post on Pitbull’s own website by the mother of a 14-year-old listener claimed that his lyrics “harm girls”. The writer said that after being directed to the songs by her daughter, “I was shocked at how misogynistic they are… Some of the lyrics make women seem like nothing more than an object for the gratification of men.” [Independent]

Rebuking Nabeel Qureshi's Misinformation at Biola University (Quran Preservation)

Taking Dr Nabeel Qureshi to Account for Misinformation

One of the frustrating things about apologetics is the sheer misinformation that gets banded about on the internet by apologists and speakers who really should know better. Folk who just present anything that they feel suits their position without trying to check the veracity of the claims. Dr Nabeel Qureshi has a history of this. Nabeel is no expert in Islamic or Quranic studies. As far as I know, he's a medical doctor who does not even know Arabic.

 

Here's a video in which Nabeel Qureshi is claiming (ignorantly) that Ibn Masud (Ibn Masood) did not believe Surah al-Fatiha was part of the Quran despite having been corrected on this issue in past. A point which seems to impugn Nabeel Qureshi's academic integrity and sincerity (again) is that he has already been advised on this argument previously in a debate with Bassam Zawadi.

For some reason Nabeel continues to expose his ignorance, unreliability and insincerity. However, it seems to be getting worse as he just attributes words to Ibn Masud without any references at all - is he making this up or does he have a reference for this?

If Nabeel had checked the Islamic Center for Research and Academics site he would have realised that there is a narration where Ibn Masud confirms that Al Fatiha is part of the Quran!

It is narrated from Ibn Mas‘ood, regarding the word of Allah, ‘We have given you the seven oft-repeated verses;’ he said, “[It is] Fatihah al-Kitab.”[3]

This plainly confirms that the al-Fatihah was indeed a part of the Qur’an in the view of Ibn Mas‘ood just like the rest of Muslims. [See ICRAA.org]

Nabeel has already been told why Ibn Masud did not include Surah Al Fatiha in his manuscript. So why is Nabeel continuing with this line of disingenuous argumentation? Why won't Nabeel not actually take the explanation of Ibn Masud rather than attributing an opposing narrative to Ibn Masud?

It's clear from Ibn Masud himself that Surah Al Fatiha was not written in his manuscript for reasons of brevity:

‘Abdullah bin Mas‘ood was asked as to why he did not write al-Fatihah in his mushaf. He replied, ‘If I were to write I would write it before every surah.’” Abu Bakr al-Anbari explains this saying every raka’ah (in prayers) starts with al-Fatihah and then another surah is recited. It is as if Ibn Mas‘ood said, ‘I have dropped it for the sake of brevity and I have trusted its preservation by Muslims (collectively).’[4]

Thus we learn, if he did not write a certain thing in his mushaf it does not mean it was not part of the Qur’an to his understanding. This is a vital point I will ask the readers to bear in mind. [See ICRAA.org]

On top of this, Nabeel has already been told that the Qiraat (reading)of Ibn Masud contains Al Fatiha:

Ibn Mas‘ood did recite al-Fatihah and al-mu’awwazatayn in Qur’an as proved from rigorous evidence of four established qira’ats whose chains of authorities (isnad) are the strongest chains unanimously accepted by the ummah. [See ICRAA.org]

Summary

In summary Nabeel Qureshi really does embarrass himself here in effort to evangelize and attempt to bring the Quran down to the level of the Bible vis-à-vis preservation. In the process Nabeel is showing himself to be unscholarly, unreliable and insincere.

Nabeel may well be trying to evangelize to Muslims in order to attract Muslims towards Christianity but surely he must recognise that presentations and claims such as he made at Biola University are only going to repel Muslims away from  Biola University, Ravi Zacharias International Ministries (RZIM) and  Nabeel Qureshi's personal mission.

Nabeel, surely recognises this type of disregard for intellectual honesty and accuracy harms relationships between Muslims and Christians.

Muslim Countries Ban Halloween - Christians Admiring Muslims?

The Jordan government has announced a complete ban on celebrating Halloween in the country [ibtimes]

Malaysia's National Fatwa Council has banned Halloween celebrations for Muslims in the country, calling the festival un-Islamic. [channelnewsasia]

Brilliant. Well done to the Jordanian authorities. Well done to Malaysia's National Fatwa Council.

I know there is right wing criticism and ridicule directed towards Muslim countries based on this decision. However, the Islamophobes would do well to remember:

Many Christians refuse to participate in Halloween. Some are wary of its pagan origins; others of its dark, ghoulish imagery; still others are concerned for the safety of their children. [gty.org]

In fact, it maybe a case of fundamentalist Christians not having the courage of their convictions and/or the relevant authority to force their countries such as America to ban Halloween. So I would imagine many of these Christians will be looking quite admiringly towards Muslim countries that are against Halloween. Muslims are doing something that fundamentalist Christians want to do - banning Halloween!

There's no good reason to celebrate Halloween and many good reasons not to take part in Halloween. Muslim Matters states a few arguments against Halloween:

1. Halloween has pagan roots
2. It is associated with celebrating superstition, black magic, and devil worship
3. Costumes are often inappropriate and immodest
4. Trick or treating can be seen as either blackmail or begging and Muslims are not supposed to beg or extort people.

During the last few weeks, al-Aqsa Compound and the Holy Sanctuaries have been violated multiple times by Israeli forces, on false pretexts. The Masjid has been shut down even for salat for the first time in almost half a century.

Our heart bleeds for that Holy Land, and for the subjugation of its innocent peoples for over 70 years. Yet,at the same time, the sheer audacity and desperation of the fascist apartheid regime bodes well for us - I am confident that we will see the... change in tide in our own times.

But what is truly depressing, above and beyond the violation that occurred in the Holy Sanctuary, is the deafening silences from all Muslim and especially Arab leaders. Nary a whisper was heard. In fact, the latest reports clearly indicate that Sisi's Egypt and some Gulf governments were actually complicit in aiding Israel during this time.

Is rape a crime in Islam? Yes!

The renowned Saudi scholar, Sheikh Muhammad Saleh Al-Munajjid, condemns the act of rape and describes it as a CRIME which is FORBIDDEN and punishable:

This is an abhorrent crime that is forbidden in all religions and in the minds of all wise people and those who possess sound human nature. All earthly systems and laws regard this action as abhorrent and impose the strictest penalties on it.

Islam has a clear stance which states that this repugnant action is haram (forbidden) and imposes a deterrent punishment on the one who commits it [2]

 

Is rape oppression and injustice? Yes!

Here we see a comment by Sheikh Hamza Yusuf on rapists. Sheikh Hamza Yusuf believes rape is oppression and injustice:

The rapist oppresses by taking advantage of the physical weakness of his victim. Oppression is a form of injustice, and injustice always occurs from an abuse of power, hidden or manifest. [The Prayer of the Oppressed, Hamza Yusuf,Sandala Productions, 2010, Kindle Loc. 175]

 

So it is a myth to say Islam condones rape or allows rapists to go free? Yes!

This is confirmed by Sheikh Faraz Rabbani:

Is rape a sin? Yes!

Is the rape victim punished for being raped? No!

Ibn `Abdul-Barr (may Allah bless his soul) said

There is no punishment for the woman if it is true that he forced her and overpowered her. (Al-Istidhkaar, 7/146). [2]

To punish the rapist, are four witnesses required? No!

Sheikh Rabbani states: The four witness requirement applies only to the prescribed hadd punishment (which in the case of a married person could be death and for the non-married, 100 lashes). [Marghinani, Hidaya] This punishment is only applied in very rare cases, as is clear, and is meant to be a social deterrent, above all.

As the classical and contemporary jurists (such as Mufti Taqi Usmani) have made clear, a rapist can be convicted on lesser evidence (including scientific evidence, such as DNA tests and medical reports) for discretionary punishments. These discretionary punishments are left up to the legal system to determine. [3]

So, the hadd punishment requires four witnesses but other discretionary punishments for the rapists do not? Correct!

Ibn `Abdul-Barr said:

The scholars are unanimously agreed that the rapist is to be subjected to the hadd punishment if there is clear evidence against him that he deserves the hadd punishment, or if he admits to that. Otherwise, he is to be punished (that is, if there is no proof that the hadd punishment for zina may be carried out against him because he does not confess and there are not four witnesses, then the judge may punish him and stipulate a punishment that will deter him and others like him)… (Al-Istidhkaar, 7/146). [2]

Can the rapist still receive hadd punishment even if he does not use a weapon? Yes!

Sheikh Mohammad Saleh al Munajjid writes: In addition, the rapist is subject to the hadd punishment for zina, even if the rape was not carried out at knifepoint or gunpoint.

What about rape at knifepoint?

Sheikh al Munajjid states: If the use of a weapon was threatened, then he is a muharib, and is to be subjected to the hadd punishment described in the verse in which Allah says (The recompense of those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger and do mischief in the land is only that they shall be killed or crucified or their hands and their feet be cut off from opposite sides, or be exiled from the land. That is their disgrace in this world, and a great torment is theirs in the Hereafter) (Al-Ma’idah 5:33).

So the judge has the choice of the four punishments mentioned in this verse and may choose whichever he thinks is most suitable to attain the objective, which is to spread peace and security in society, and ward off evildoers and aggressors. [2]

Rape statistics are relatively low in Muslim countries

NationMaster’s per capita rape statistics do not include a Muslim country in the top 30. The statistics show the US, UK, Australia, Canada, Spain and France as having more rapes per capita than any Muslim country. [4]

Muslim Rape Stories/Reports and the Islamophobes. A Response!

This is a disgusting news story of molestation and burning. I could not watch the whole video. It's being styled as 'Muslim Burns 11 Year Old Girl Alive, For Wearing Lipstick'  on YouTube with the description 'Muslim Uncle, Burn 11 year old Niece for wearing Lipstick'

As a Muslims we condemn this sin. We all know rape is not allowed in Islam.

The video report states it was a neighbour (not the uncle) who molested the girl and then burned her. A very sick crime. A sin. Allah knows best whether this crime was committed by a Muslim or not.

May Allah help the victim's family be strong and may Allah heal the victim and give them Paradise. Ameen

Rather than focussing our attention and thoughts on the poor girl (the victim) and her family we as Muslims are being faced with the misuse of this crime by Islamophobes who are using this news story for their agenda of hate against Muslims. Most people will be repulsed to their very core by it. Yet we have hate-preaching anti-Muslim folk misusing the misery of the raped girls to bash Muslims. There is a clear agenda to malign Muslims as rapists - this is evidenced by numerous reports on the internet over reporting rapes carried out by Muslims (as though others groups don't commit rape)

 

Going back to the comments about it always being Muslims. Here are two such cases of rape and burn from Americans (not sure if any of the rapists in these cases were Muslim - no mention of them being Muslim):

An American soldier yesterday pleaded guilty to the rape and murder of a 14-year-old Iraqi girl and the killing of three members of her family in a village near Baghdad in March in one of the most brutal examples of attacks on civilians in Iraq.

The soldier, Specialist James Barker, also agreed to testify against three other accused soldiers. He agreed to the plea in return for a guarantee that he would not face the death penalty, his lawyers said.The murders took place on March 12 in Mahmoudiya, 20 miles south of Baghdad. Prosecutors allege that five soldiers stationed at a checkpoint there raped the girl, Abeer Qassim al-Janabi, then burned her body to hide the evidence, and killed her father, mother and six-year-old sister. And here's another sick case from America (Non-Muslim country):

Three arrests have been made in what Columbus police Sgt. Lance Deaton called Sunday a “very brutal crime,” involving the rape, shooting and burning of a woman.

Police Lt. John McMichael said in a news release Sunday morning that all face felony charges of aggravated assault, rape, kidnapping, aggravated battery, aggravated sexual battery, aggravated sodomy, arson first degree, hijacking a motor vehicle and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. And if we have a look at the rape statistics per capita in countries around the world, we see no Muslim country is in the top 10:

This propaganda campaign of misusing rape stories to attack Muslims is deplorable and all those involved in such should stop misusing the misery of rape victims for purposes of Islamophobia. Wake up and admit rape is a problem within every community (and try to do something about it!)rather than exhausting your energy on attempts at wrongly demonising Muslims as rapists.

Islam should be taught in American Public Schools by Muslim teachers

Some parents are reportedly getting themselves hot and bothered about Islamic history and Islam being taught to children in American public schools.

The truth is, both Islam and Islamic history should be taught in European and American public schools. There's a rise in Islamophobia and there exists a basic ignorance concerning Islam and Muslims amongst Non-Muslims in the West. Teaching children in American public schools about Islamic history and Islamic theology would be fantastic. There's nothing wrong with this and everything right with this. In fact, Muslim teachers (imams and scholars) should deliver the classes.

Islam offers a moral framework which would help prevent unwanted teenage pregnancies, bullying, sexting (sharing of nude pics), classroom violence, racism and other ills which schools in the West are facing.

Right wing Islamophobes are paranoid


Right wingers are dressing this up as 'Islamic supremacy' and using other such propaganda language for their agendas of bigotry, publicity-courting and cash-generation.

Here's a snip from a right wing blog claiming parents are 'distraught' whilst imagining Islam is being proselytized via force. Just look at all the emotive and propaganda language used (bold), my commentary is in red:

I have been fielding calls from distraught parents all week — two moms today — reeling from the proselytizing for Islam in their children’s “Social Studies” or “World History” classes.

...children are forced to recite the shahada (it’s what one says in order to convert to Islam). Instead, they are forced to learn the five pillars of Islam.

Department of Education, Pearson, the Gates Foundation, publishing companies and the testing companies have been hijacked by Islamic supremacists and have hijacked our public school curriculums and textbooks (i.e., Common Core).

This is a violation of the establishment clause, and maybe a mass class action suit should be filed. This is something we are looking at.

One mom whom I spoke to earlier told me that her 12-year-old son came home from school yesterday “depressed” and “sick.” Coming from a “good Christian home,” he was confused and “hurt” that he had to write and say the Muslim declaration of faith (the shahada) and write it repeatedly. The mother was beside herself.

Somehow I doubt he was forced to write it 'repeatedly'. Did you see all that emotive language - all in an attempt to garner support for their anti-Muslim agenda and potential law suit. 

Now check this right wing blog's segway off to some extremist groups in the Middle East (linking it with the innocent teaching of Islam in American schools to elicit further emotion from the naïve)

When Muslims force Christians to convert, they are forced to say the shahada (the Muslim declaration of faith). The Arabic writing on the black flag of jihad (also known as the al Qaeda flag or ISIS flag) is the shahada. This chant of supremacism and imperialism is being forced on American school kids.

Erm, Islam does not allow forced conversions and the shahada is the faith declaration of Muslims, it's not a 'chant of supremacism and imperialism'. Propaganda against Muslims is rife on the net.

One can clearly see one benefit of teaching American school children about Islam and Islamic history. It will mean there will be a bunch of educated young people who will be attracted towards the anti-Muslim propaganda of the right wing bigots who look to gain publicity and cash out of attacking Muslims and Islam.

Guess that's one of the reasons why the right wing are against educating American school children about Islam. An ignorant population is easier to mould and milk for the right wing Islamophobic and racist agendas...
